Starting Online therapy in Harrisonburg

What is online therapy?

With Thriveworks, Online therapy is an effective alternative to in-person therapy services in which a client can speak to a Thriveworks therapist remotely via online video conferencing. Online sessions are just as effective as in-person treatment, but they can also provide added benefits like reduced travel time, saving money on transportation or childcare, and increased access to care.

How does online therapy work?

Online therapy works much like traditional in-person therapy but takes place through secure video conferencing. Clients can attend Online therapy from any safe place they choose that has access to the internet, whether that be their home or another easily accessible place. Like in-person treatment, a therapist will work with their client to address their concerns, create goals, and establish an effective treatment plan.

What is the best option for online therapy?

There is no best option for online therapy—instead, it’s best to focus on finding a provider that meets your specific needs and with whom you can form a professional connection with.

Is online therapy just as effective?

Yes, online therapy is just as effetive for many clients as in-person sessions.

How long does online therapy last?

Online therapy can last for a few months to years depending on the goals and symptoms of the client. The treatment process will be unique to each client and lend itself to their specific concerns, which means that the time it takes to treat them will always be different. Timing is also up to the client themselves; they are free to stop therapy whenever they please, especially if they feel they have reached their goals and addressed their concerns.

How much does online therapy cost?

At Thriveworks, we accept most major insurance plans, allowing many clients to pay as little as $0–$50 per session with their co-pay. We also offer self-pay options for those out-of-network or without insurance. Self-pay rates for talk therapy range from $160 to $240 for intake sessions and $135 to $195 for follow-ups, depending on your state. For psychiatry services, self-pay intake sessions are $255–$375, with follow-ups ranging from $175–$300, also varying by state. More information on current self-pay costs is available on our pricing page.

Need more help deciding?

Imagine: You work from home full-time for a job you love. You have a great family, amazing friends, and you play recreational volleyball on the weekends. However, you’re having a hard time establishing a healthy work/life balance and you find it challenging to step away from work. When you hear a ding on your work computer, you feel compelled to check and see what’s going on. This puts a strain on your relationship with your partner.

Many people associate therapy and counseling with having a more serious challenge like battling depression or coping with the loss of a loved one. In reality, counseling can prove to be beneficial for those with less severe problems, too,  like in the situation above. Online counseling is a useful and reliable tool to help you manage stresses, overcome difficult challenges, and better your overall well being.

Online counseling is a powerful tool and very easy to use. In fact, a lot of people are turning to online counseling instead of traditional in-person therapy because of how accessible it is. At Thriveworks Counseling in Harrisonburg, VA, we have a team of online counselors, therapists, psychologists, and life coaches who are readily available to help you achieve your goals and greater overall happiness. If there is something you are dealing with that’s heavy on your mind, consider working with one of our mental health professionals. To get started, simply give us a call.

Online Counseling Options at Thriveworks

We talk to our friends and family over the phone, we can meet with our doctors over video chat, and we can even attend meetings from our computers. So, why can’t we also get mental health help virtually? You can! Here at Thriveworks Counseling in Harrisonburg, VA, we offer our clients two convenient ways to talk to their counselors:

  • Video Counseling: Prior to your scheduled appointment, you will receive a link to a video chat room. Once it’s time for your appointment, simply click on the link to talk to your counselor.
  • Telephone Counseling: At your scheduled appointment time, you will receive a call from your counselor. All you have to do is answer the phone. It’s as easy as that!

Both online counseling options prove to be very beneficial to our clients. Some clients prefer the face-to-face interaction that video counseling offers, while others prefer the telephone option and its flexibility. Regardless, both forms of online counseling are effective, easy, and reliable. Feel free to give both options a try if you’re going back and forth!

The Benefits of Online Counseling

Have you ever found yourself rushing from the office to your counselor’s office and getting frustrated when traffic hits? Have you ever wished you could comfortably talk to your counselor from the comfort of your own home? Luckily, online counseling is a solution to these issues.

There are many great benefits to this form of therapy, including comfort, convenience, reliability, and ease. You won’t have to worry about unpredictable factors making you rush to get to your appointment on time. You can even talk to your counselor during your lunch breaks or on the way home from work.

If you’re worried about online counseling not being as effective as traditional in-person therapy, don’t be. Studies show that this form of therapy is just as effective as going to an office to speak to a mental health professional. You can make the same meaningful progress over the phone or video chat.

As we briefly touched on earlier, online counseling at Thriveworks in Harrisonburg, VA covers a multitude of areas. From mental illnesses to life coaching help, we have you covered. We have tried several counselors, and Krystle has been the most resourceful, considerate, present, and beneficial counselor, mediator, and role model for our blended family of 6, which includes 2 boys and 2 girls, coming from 2 different backgrounds, all having varying personalities and very different social and emotional needs. Krystle was able to help each child work through their weakness and build upon their strengths, one on one. She also worked with them as a group and helped them with sibling issues and social issues. Krystle provided us as parents, an outlet to be heard and to learn and practice strategies to help each child and the family unit. Krystle genuinely cares about her patients and maintains a calm and present demeanor throughout each patient experience. Without any doubt or hesitation, I highly recommend Krystle for your counseling needs.

Krystle is a caring therapist and able to establish rapport with individuals resistant to treatment. Her dedication and expertise is illustrated by the positive changes her clients make and their improved mental health status. She deeply cares for the people she serves. Krystle has worked with adults and juveniles as well as families of all socioeconomic backgrounds. Anyone participating in counseling with Krystle is in excellent hands.
