Why did you decide to become a counselor?
I decided to become a counselor because I have always felt compelled to show other people love, care, and compassion. I see my profession as a personal calling and honor, that I can be part of a client's healing process.
What types of clients do you work with best?
I work best with motivated clients who are willing to explore the intricate parts of themselves. I feel my therapeutic strengths are best paired with adult clients, clients who desire to process trauma, and clients who are open to being challenged therapeutically.
What type of clients are you most excited to work with?
I am excited to work with all clients, as each client is unique. I am most excited to work with women, as I feel my therapeutic talents and lived experience as a woman helps me to connect and establish a therapeutic relationship.
What's one thing you wish all clients knew?
I wish all clients could see how wonderful they truly are. I find that clients often minimize their strengths and progress. I hope to remind you how awesome you truly are!
Why did you choose to practice at Thriveworks?
I chose to practice at Thriveworks to have greater accessibility to clients who could benefit from working with me, to have more flexibility to meet client needs, and to find a work-life balance that suits me best. Self-care is important--I try to practice what I encourage others to do!
What inspires you?
People who are willing to show kindness in small ways every day.
What can clients expect in their first session with you?
Clients can expect a warm and inviting counselor meeting you where you are emotionally.
What do you want to accomplish with an individual in their first session?
I want to accomplish establishing a relationship and building rapport. I want you to leave the session feeling better than when you came in, and I want you to know that I am here to support you.
What should clients know about you before scheduling a first counseling session?
You should know that I am here to help you with your emotional needs. Clients are often anxious or worried at first sessions. I want you to know that at the core of the work we do together, our therapeutic relationship is what is most important. I am not the expert in the room, you are the expert of your life! I am here as a guide, but you are the one choosing the path.
What do you do for fun/on your time off?
I enjoy being outside, spending time with my family and friends, cuddling my 2 dogs (Biscuit and Delta), traveling, and watching true crime documentaries.
What's one thing about you that defines you (non-professional)?
I love making other people laugh!
