Why did you decide to become a counselor or psychiatric provider?
I was motivated to become a counselor due to my passion for helping others, and my fascination with the mental health field. I have always had great interest in the psychology field this interested started when I was undergrad working on my bachelors of science in psychology. I noticed several people in my life struggling with their mental health at the time, and I wanted to know more about the field. My quest for knowledge in the mental health field was inspired by seeing loved ones struggle and a quest to learn how to live a more fulfilled and happy life style.
What types of clients do you work with best?
When it comes to what clients I work best with, my answer is anyone who is willing to work with me. I am really grateful to have this career, and I want to work with anyone who wants help.
What type of clients are you most excited to work with?
Overall, I am excited to work with all clients, but clients who are eager to embark on a journey for change in order to live a more optiminal style for them!
What's one thing you wish all clients knew?
One thing I wish all clients knew, is that therapy is a collaborative process. There is no "power over" approach in therapy, the therapist and client relationship is a team approach.
Why did you choose to practice at Thriveworks?
I choose to practice at Thriveworks because this company truly cares about their clients and clinicians.
What inspires you?
Overall there are a few different topic that inspire me which include higher education, gaining knowledge of any form, movement, and being the best I can be.
What can clients expect in their first session with you?
In their first session clients can expect education on confidentiality, mandated reporting and of course completing the intake. Outside of the necessary things that have to be covered in the first session, you can expect opportunities to connect in order to further build our client and counselor relationship.
What do you want to accomplish with an individual in their first session?
The goal of the first session is to build rapport with one another and explore what brings you into counseling. This is a great opportunity to dive into the intake together and explore what it is that you need at this time. This session gives us great starting point for future sessions!
What should clients know about you before scheduling a first session?
Something clients should know about me before scheduling is that I really care about clients and their overall progress. I sincerely wish the best for my clients, and will make sure I do my part in order to help you gain the success you hope for.
What do you do for fun/on your time off?
I love to spend time with family and friends. I also love to workout and spend time outside.
What's one thing about you that defines you (non-professional)?
One thing about me that is important to know is my drive to be the best therapist I can be. If there is something I don't know, I am honest, and will always move through the proper channels to find the answer. This can look like research, consulting other therapists, seeking additional training, or connecting with other resources in the community.
