About Arthur
During his professional years as a clinical social work therapist, Graeme Biddle has had the privilege of working with several populations, including clients with terminal illnesses and their family members, as well as children and adolescents experiencing emotional and behavioral instability. Graeme enjoys helping clients identify tools to cope with anxiety, depression, and anger. He also has experience helping clients understand life transitions, as well as better understand periods of grief and loss.
Graeme completed his Master of Social Work (MSW) from Virginia Commonwealth University, as well as his Bachelor of Arts from Randolph-Macon College. He is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) through the state of Virginia. Graeme provides a calm, validating approach to therapy, while also remaining direct, and encouraging self-accountability. While using a strengths-based perspective, Graeme utilizes several clinical modalities including Person-Centered Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy.
The process of beginning therapy can be scary and overwhelming. Why did you decide to become a counselor?
Since an early age, I have been passionate about interacting and helping others. This field gives me the chance to do that everyday, and to have the opportunity to learn about people's talents and strengths.
What types of clients do you work with best?
I feel my strength lies in working with young people, specifically children and adolescents. I also work best with those of any age who have experienced, whether that is the passing of a loved one or any other type of loss.
What type of clients are you most excited to work with?
Any client I come in interaction with excites me. However, I would say my passion lies with helping children and adolescents, especially adolescent males. I enjoy helping this population feel accepted to express their emotions. I also enjoy working with clients of all ages process experiences with life transitions and grief.
What's one thing you wish all clients knew?
I wish all humans, not just clients, would be able to naturally recognize their one talents and capabilities. When our self-esteem is low this can be difficult, but the guidance of a trusted individual like a counselor can help.

Clients can expect me to provide a calm presence to better help with the adjustment to this new experience.
What do you want to accomplish with an individual in their first session?
I hope to accomplish a basic comfort level for the client, as well as understanding of the goals to be addressed in future sessions.
What should clients know about you before scheduling a first counseling session?
Before entering a session, I hope clients know that I truly enjoy this work, and that I do my best to build connections.
What do you do for fun/on your time off?
Spending time outside, traveling, reading non-fiction, listening to music, and socializing with friends.
What's one thing about you that defines you (non-professional)?
I think I am someone who tries to see the good in people, which is something I try to do in all aspects of my life.
