About Sharane
Sharane Leabough is an LCSW Supervisee who has more than 6 years of experience. She has worked with children and their families in both mental health and child welfare capacities. Sharane specializes in serving individuals who struggle with anxiety, depression, grief/loss, child therapy, coping skills, family conflict, as well as career and mental stress. Sharane desires to work with pre-teens, teenagers, and adults who are willing to engage in the therapeutic relationship. Sharane is open to working with children, as she has experience serving children and their families.
Sharane obtained her Master's degree in Social Work at Virginia Commonwealth University. Sharane incorporates multiple modalities when serving clients, such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), solution-focused therapy, motivational interviewing, and mindfulness. She also incorporates compassion, emotional, faith-based, and culturally sensitive approaches.
Sharane enjoys working with clients to identify their needs and goals. She has made a commitment to be present for her clients through each stage of the therapy process. Sharane believes that it is essential to recognize that clients are the experts in their own lives, and she is ready to help clients identify solutions to overcome their current struggles.

Why did you decide to become a counselor or psychiatric provider?
I became a social worker because I truly enjoy working with individuals to address their needs, all the while highlighting that people are not defined by their upbringing, trauma(s), or their current circumstance.
What types of clients do you work with best?
I work best with clients that are prepared to take initiative in improving their overall well-being, by addressing their specific needs as they relate to their hardship or circumstance.
What type of clients are you most excited to work with?
I am most excited to work with young to middle aged adults that present with struggles as they relate to anxiety, depression, relationships, family conflict, pregnancy, postpartum, and stress.
What's one thing you wish all clients knew?
I wish that all clients knew that although making the decision to purse therapy (counseling) can be quite difficult, there is power in engaging in the healing process.
Why did you choose to practice at Thriveworks?
I chose to practice at Thriveworks because they offer flexible options, both in-person and online sessions, that eliminates most barriers for individuals desiring therapy services.
What inspires you?
I am inspired by my family and by being better than the person I was yesterday.
What can clients expect in their first session with you?
In the first session, clients can expect a judgement-free zone and a safe space to express themselves.
What do you want to accomplish with an individual in their first session?
Clients can expect that in their first session, I genuinely want to accomplish building rapport and exploring their needs.
What should clients know about you before scheduling a first session?
Clients should know that I am committed to being present for them, throughout the therapy process, if they are willing to explore their specific needs to improve their overall quality of life and to inspire change.
What do you do for fun/on your time off?
When I have time off, I enjoy traveling, shopping, trying new foods, and spending time with my family.
