Why did you decide to become a counselor?
I became a counselor because of my passion for making a meaningful difference in people’s lives. From an early age, I felt drawn to the counseling profession because of its potential to support individuals in navigating their challenges and fostering a path toward a brighter future. The opportunity to witness and facilitate my clients’ progress and growth is incredibly fulfilling and reinforces my passion for this work. Each day, I am privileged to accompany clients through their experiences of suffering, love, hope, and the complex narratives that shape their lives. This practice continually inspires me, as I am constantly in awe of the resilience and depth of the human spirit.
What types of clients do you work with best?
I work best with clients who are navigating grief, loss, anxiety, depression, and trauma. My approach is particularly effective for individuals who are open to exploring their emotions and are motivated to work towards healing and resilience. I have experience working with clients across various stages of life and from diverse backgrounds, which allows me to adapt my approach to meet the unique needs of each individual.
What's one thing you wish all clients knew?
I wish all clients knew that seeking help is a sign of strength, not weakness. It takes courage to acknowledge and address challenges; therapy can be a powerful tool for personal growth and healing. I encourage clients to be patient with themselves throughout the therapeutic process and to trust in their ability to create positive changes in their lives.
What inspires you?
I am inspired by witnessing the resilience and courage of my clients as they navigate their healing journeys. Seeing individuals reclaim their sense of self-worth, rebuild relationships, and find new meaning in their lives is incredibly rewarding. Ongoing advancements in therapeutic techniques and research also inspire me to continuously enhance my ability to support my clients.
What can clients expect in their first session with you?
In our initial intake session, clients can expect a warm, empathetic environment where they can share their concerns and goals without judgment. We will discuss various aspects, including their reasons for seeking therapy, current challenges, relationships, careers, and education. Together, we’ll begin to outline a collaborative treatment plan. This process not only helps me understand the client’s needs and feelings but also lays the foundation for a trusting therapeutic relationship, aiming to create a safe space where clients feel heard and understood. Additionally, I will explain my therapeutic approach and answer any questions to ensure clients feel comfortable and informed about the process ahead.
What do you do for fun/on your time off?
For fun and during my time off, I cherish quality moments with my family, engaging in activities like playing board games and exploring new dishes to cook together. I also enjoy crocheting as a creative outlet and participating in various outdoor activities that rejuvenate me. Individually, I find fulfillment in volunteering with local community groups. This allows me to make meaningful connections, continually learn new skills, and empower others in our community. These activities enrich my personal life and contribute to my sense of well-being and fulfillment outside of my professional role.
