Why did you decide to become a counselor or psychiatric provider?
I wanted to provide therapeutic and advocate support for youth that I did not have in a school environment.
What types of clients do you work with best?
I am mainly experienced with youth and families. I am adjusting to working with adults on an individual basis as the primary client.
What type of clients are you most excited to work with?
LGBTQ, Alternative life styles, depression, anxiety, and school/home life issues.
What's one thing you wish all clients knew?
That sometimes we have to remind ourselves that our obstacles are temporary. Maybe today won't be the day to work around the obstacle. But one day you will have the strength to dust yourself off, and maneuver obstacles in your way. Then you will learn from that experience, and be prepared for future challengees that presents itself.
Why did you choose to practice at Thriveworks?
Seems to have a more modernized approach, and the availability of support for professional development.
What inspires you?
Laughter. If you can find a way to find humor in difficult situations, then you are one step closer to over coming your challenges. Laughter can come at the most random times, and it can be like medicine when the days feel unbearable.
What can clients expect in their first session with you?
Respectful with boundaries, empathic, communication, safe space, and people do not feel like I judge them.
What do you want to accomplish with an individual in their first session?
Rapport, safety, and a place that they can be vulnerable without me pushing them to be.
What should clients know about you before scheduling a first session?
That I will work with them to the best of my ability, and if I am not the right therapist for them, I will dedicate my time to find someone who is a good fit. One way or another they will get the help they need.
What do you do for fun/on your time off?
Comics, audio books, Doctor Who, reality TV, and technology.
What's one thing about you that defines you (non-professional)?
Humor
