Get to know Lisa

Why did you decide to become a counselor?

In my 20s with the loss of my Mother, someone was able to help me work through extremely tough feelings of grief and loss and it was life changing; I decided then that I wanted to help others.

What types of clients do you work with best?

Clients experiencing challenges and transitions who are seeking guidance, knowledge, and a path to feel empowered and supported in their journey towards healing and achieving their future goals.

What type of clients are you most excited to work with?

All clients willing to start the process of embracing the therapeutic process and willing to challenge themselves to learn, heal, and grow.

What’s one thing you wish all clients knew?

Therapy gives you a safe space to explore your thoughts, feelings, challenges without judgment. You are able to gain a deeper understanding of yourself, challenges, and developing coping strategies for healing and growth.

Why did you choose to practice at Thriveworks?

I chose Thriveworks because of the focus to change the world through counseling and to provide better solutions for clients than usual private practice therapy. I connected to the Thriveworks Mission of 'Help People Live Happy and Successful Lives."

What inspires you?

Seeing people explore what is internally inhibiting personal growth. Helping them explore ways to move beyond symptoms, limitations, and challenges and towards personal growth and fulfillment.

What can clients expect in their first session with you?

A strength-based, client-centered, collaborative, and holistic approach that considers the person’s mind, body, spirit, and worldview involving positive regard, acceptance, and a safe space in which therapy can take place.

What do you want to accomplish with an individual in their first session?

Starting from a strength-based, client-centered, collaborative, and holistic approach that considers the person’s mind, body, spirit, and worldview, me and the client will get to know each other and get an idea of how to proceed which can include: reasons for seeking therapy, client background, current challenges, what is inhibiting personal growth, and goals for therapy.

What do you do for fun/on your time off?

Spend time with my wonderful, loving spouse, play with my two silly cats, read, exercise.

What’s one thing about you that defines you (non-professional)?

I am passionate about health and wellness and advocate for all people.
