Get to know Ramona

Why did you decide to become a counselor or psychiatric provider?

I became a Social Worker/therapist because I am passionate about helping individuals and families navigate life’s challenges and find their way to a place of healing and growth. I believe in the transformative power of support and guidance, and I strive to help others get on—or get back on—the path to their ideal life, where they feel empowered, confident, and fulfilled.

What types of clients do you work with best?

I work best with elderly clients, individuals managing chronic health conditions or disabilities, and mothers navigating the childbearing process. My approach is compassionate and tailored, focusing on creating a supportive environment that addresses unique challenges while fostering resilience, empowerment, and a sense of stability throughout life’s transitions.

What type of clients are you most excited to work with?

I am most excited to work with individuals navigating life transitions (such as motherhood) and overcoming related challenges and new family dynamics. Supporting clients in building resilience and achieving their goals is deeply fulfilling.

What's one thing you wish all clients knew?

One thing I wish all clients knew is that seeking help is a sign of strength, not weakness. Everyone faces challenges, and taking the step to prioritize your mental and emotional well-being is an act of courage and self-care that can lead to meaningful growth and transformation.

Why did you choose to practice at Thriveworks?

I chose to practice at Thriveworks because of their commitment to providing accessible, high-quality mental health care and creating a supportive environment for both clients and clinicians. Thriveworks’ mission to treat clients with warmth and respect aligns with my values as a counselor. Their focus on innovation and excellence inspires me to deliver my best work and help individuals and families thrive.

What inspires you?

I am inspired by the resilience and strength of the individuals and families I’ve had the privilege to support throughout my career. Witnessing their growth and ability to overcome challenges motivates me to continue providing compassionate care. I am also inspired by my family and the community around me- seeing how we all affect one another inspires me to continue to learn and find opportunities for growth to be a useful servant to those I personally love and the greater community.

What can clients expect in their first session with you?

In the first session, clients can expect a warm and welcoming environment where they feel heard and supported. I focus on building rapport to create a foundation of trust and collaboration.

What do you want to accomplish with an individual in their first session?

I aim to spend the first session learning as much as possible about the client- their story, their challenges, and what led them to seek therapy. This time is about understanding their unique needs and goals while creating a safe, supportive space to begin building a trusting therapeutic relationship.

What should clients know about you before scheduling a first session?

I am compassionate, I love to learn about others (their gifts and interests), I am nonjudgmental, and committed to creating a safe and supportive space where clients feel empowered to achieve their goals.

What do you do for fun/on your time off?

For fun I like to spend time with my family (amusement parks/traveling/camping), I love reading and I also really enjoy cooking and sewing.

What's one thing about you that defines you (non-professional)?

What defines me is my belief that kindness and the impact we have on others, especially children, can change lives in the most meaningful ways.
