Get to know Patricia
Why did you decide to become a counselor?
People were drawn to me. They would tell me all about their lives. My first career was nursing. It was an easy step up to counseling.
What type of clients are you most excited to work with?
Young people in their 20's or 30's who want to explore and make changes before they make mistakes in their life due to previous parenting experiences.
What's one thing you wish all clients knew?
Things can change.
Why did you choose to practice at Thriveworks?
Recommended by a colleague who was pleased with her experience. Wanted to work exclusively remote.
What inspires you?
Many things. Too many to count.
What can clients expect in their first session with you?
To let them tell their story and be listened to with compassion, acceptance and no judgment.
What do you want to accomplish with an individual in their first session?
I want them to know that their story is important and give them empathy and hope that things can get better.
What should clients know about you before scheduling a first counseling session?
I am not a behaviorist. I am most interested in creating a space for them to heal from their struggles. I will meet them where they are at.
What do you do for fun/on your time off?
Swim, play games, socialize with peers.
What's one thing about you that defines you (non-professional)?
I am very spiritual. Not religious. I am a member of the Episcopal church, which is organized religion, but my essence is spiritual, kind and compassionate toward others.
