Everyone’s issues, strengths, and needs in therapy are unique, as is the relationship between counselor and client. Finding the right person to assist with your needs and create a theoretically sound relationship may depend on finding someone willing to meet you where you are. Heather is ready to help you get started!

"As a mother, wife, daughter, and college student, I have come to terms with the fact that all individuals are unique in their experiences, how they perceive these experiences, and their reactions and responses to these experiences."

Why did you decide to become a counselor or psychiatric provider?
I initiated my journey in mental health to advocate in a system that did not hold a space for my autistic child; however, the more I pursued mental health professionally, the more I found that I was gratified when others became aware of who they wanted to be, and further found value in offering supportive interventions and goals that directed the clients to become autonomous in their endeavors.
What types of clients do you work with best?
I enjoy working with an array of clients who have trauma, adjustment, depression, or anxiety and are willing to collaborate and be an active part of their treatment.
What type of clients are you most excited to work with?
I have found to be most excited when working with college students, mothers, military, and retirees.
What's one thing you wish all clients knew?
I am goal-oriented and value reflection, feedback, and objective views.
Why did you choose to practice at Thriveworks?
I am currently working on my Ph.D. in Counselor Education and Supervision. Thrive Works offers a platform that allows me to attend to client needs while allotting the time for me to pursue my goals in academia and ensure I allow for time to give myself the self-care needed to be present for my clients.
What inspires you?
I find genuine value in assisting and supporting others in finding their best version of themselves.
What can clients expect in their first session with you?
I seek a collaborative experience with the client whereby the client plays an active role in the intake session and ongoing therapy.
What do you want to accomplish with an individual in their first session?
To explore the client's background, present worldviews, and future goals.
What should clients know about you before scheduling a first session?
I take an Adlerian approach with a focus on client-based strengths and becoming aware of goals that align with understood strengths.
What do you do for fun/on your time off?
I am an avid bread and cheesemaker. I enjoy riding motorcycles and horses.
What's one thing about you that defines you (non-professional)?
I believe we define ourselves and create the narrative that plays out in our day to day lives.
