Why did you decide to become a counselor or psychiatric provider?

I wanted to change the system and the treatment of those I loved and encountered.

My family and people's stories of life inspire me.

In the first session, I want to be able to understand the concerns have them identify what they seek from counseling, and attempt to make them feel comfortable and safe through listening and validation.

I am there to support and guide my client through a transition while helping them develop the skills and techniques to manage challenges that arise in their lives.

What do you do for fun/on your time off?

I enjoy being a mother of 4 children and a supportive partner to my fiance. My hobbies include DIY projects, refurbishing old furniture, and donating my time to give back to the community

Determination.

Can you tell us about a success you had with a client?

My 6-year-old client was diagnosed with ODD and PTSD. He had challenges accepting no, following rules, refraining from physical aggression, and expressing his feelings appropriately both at home and school. He made significant improvements in all these areas by the time he was discharged and continued after. I received letters from his school, coaches, and family thanking me for providing support and techniques that allowed him to engage in these activities in a meaningful and healthy way.
