Get to know Maria

Why did you decide to become a counselor or psychiatric provider?

I decided to become a counselor because I am a trauma survivor who has dealt with anxiety, depression, and PTSD. I know the importance of being able to talk to someone who can help provide you with the tools to work through these difficult times of life.

What types of clients do you work with best?

I work well with adolescents, adults, and seniors from all types of backgrounds who are dealing with anxiety, depression, trauma, and PTSD.

What type of clients are you most excited to work with?

I am excited to work with clients from all different backgrounds who are dealing with anxiety, depression, trauma, and PTSD to help them learn healthy coping skills to navigate through the difficult times in their lives.

What's one thing you wish all clients knew?

I wish that all clients knew not every therapist they meet is going to be the right fit for them. Sometimes you might have to meet with a few therapists to find the right one. So don't give up! Your mental health is important and you deserve to have the right therapist.

Why did you choose to practice at Thriveworks?

I chose to practice at Thriveworks because their mission to provide the best mental healthcare nationwide aligns with my beliefs in providing the best mental healthcare for my clients.

What inspires you?

I am inspired by the strength and perseverance of people.

What can clients expect in their first session with you?

During your first session with me, clients can expect to be welcomed into a judgment-free zone where they can feel comfortable discussing what they are going through. Clients can expect to feel supported and empowered to begin their therapy journey.

What do you want to accomplish with an individual in their first session?

In an individual's first session, I want to ensure that they feel comfortable talking to me and that they know I am there to help them throughout their therapy journey.

What should clients know about you before scheduling a first session?

Clients should know that I am an empathetic person and a great listener. I am here for whatever it is that you feel comfortable talking about. This is your time!

What do you do for fun/on your time off?

I love to travel and spend time with my two furbabies.

What's one thing about you that defines you (non-professional)?

My empathy.
