About Provider

About Geoffrey

Hi, I'm Geoffrey! I have been practicing as a mental health therapist for more than 3 years, during which time I finished my master's degree in clinical mental health counseling and became a National Certified Counselor (NCC). I have the privilege of serving adults struggling with eating disorders, PTSD, anxiety, depression, and relationship issues.

My therapeutic approach is LGBTQ+ affirming and eclectic, incorporating elements from various modalities. I primarily use cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), and eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR).

Therapeutic success is contingent on a few factors: the right provider, with the right modality, at the right time. When you schedule an intake, we can discuss if I am the right provider, if I have the right tools for you, and if now is the right time for you to do therapeutic work. I encourage you to reach out and schedule an appointment.

Get to know Geoffrey

Why did you decide to become a counselor or psychiatric provider?

I've often been told that I'm a good listener, and I'm a sucker for a good story.

What types of clients do you work best with?

My passion is working with individuals with eating disorders, especially queer folks, those with co-occurring disorders, and those who have stepped down from higher levels of care.

How do you tailor therapy to meet each client’s unique needs?

I like to normalize that therapy is a process of trial and error. In some sessions, things will click; in others, things will feel unfinished. And while it is normal to end some sessions with things unresolved, we will learn what is most helpful for you and adjust over time.

What can clients expect in their first session with you and in the early stages of therapy?

Lots of questions! Within the first few sessions, we will likely have a better understanding of what is bringing you to therapy and what might be helpful. We will also discuss whether I'm the right clinician for you. There are so many wonderful providers with a wealth of expertise: I want to make sure you get connected with the best provider for you.

What's one thing you wish all clients knew about therapy, mental health, or the healing process?

Healing, especially healing that really lasts, requires not only good emotional health but also good physical health, meaningful relationships, and connection with one's values. Because of this, I like to acknowledge all these factors in sessions.

What personal experiences or values inform your practice as a therapist/provider?

I really value competence and practicing within my scope. I do not pretend to have expertise with certain diagnoses and treatments. If there is a provider with more expertise and more experience with your diagnosis or desired treatment modality, I want to make sure you get connected with them.
