Why did you decide to become a counselor or psychiatric provider?
Since I was 16, I have had an interest in psychology, and when I was in community college, I discovered I had a gift for listening to and helping others who are suffering. Therefore, I have decided to nurture that gift in order to help as many as I am able to.
What types of clients do you work with best?
I have a lot of experience working with men and children, along with clients that may struggle to open up.
What type of clients are you most excited to work with?
When considering clients that I am most excited to work with, I think about clients that may struggle with opening up, since it helps both the client and myself grow as the therapeutic relationship is formed.
What's one thing you wish all clients knew?
I wish all clients knew that, while life may be difficult at times, and it can be difficult to see the light, there is always something to move towards.
Why did you choose to practice at Thriveworks?
I decided to practice at Thriveworks due to the wide rage of clinicians that I may be able to learn from, so that I can expand my repertoire in order to best serve my clients.
What inspires you?
My biggest inspiration is my faith in God, and how, no matter what troubles we may have or what questions may burden us, He is the one that can guide us into help ourselves and others, and the answers that we seek.
What can clients expect in their first session with you?
During my first session with a client, I really enjoy taking the time to really listen to their unique needs and concerns in order to figure out how to best go about the counseling process.
What do you want to accomplish with an individual in their first session?
During my first session with a client, I like to listen to their whole story in order to both understand their unique perspective and to start gaining an understanding of what exactly the client is going through. I then like to start narrowing down specific areas to work on, starting with the most important, and going from there.
What should clients know about you before scheduling a first session?
I will take the time to listen to their story from their unique perspective, and give them all the space they need in order to open up.
What do you do for fun/on your time off?
In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with my family, going to the gym, and learning about and practicing my faith.
What's one thing about you that defines you (non-professional)?
When thinking about what defines me, I think about my sense of loyalty, such as my loyalty to my family and God.
