Why did you decide to become a counselor or psychiatric provider?
I have always enjoyed listening to problems and finding solutions. I have also always loved helping others and seeing them excel. This profession allows me to combine both of these skills to help others live a better life.
What types of clients do you work with best?
I enjoy working with client's of all ages, however, I tend to best work with teens, young adults and women.
What type of clients are you most excited to work with?
I am excited to work with client's who are highly motivated and have goals for themselves.
What's one thing you wish all clients knew?
I want all client's to know how much they have to give, even when they don't realize it. More often then not, client's are completely capable of solving their own problems and finding the motivation within themselves to make the change they are looking for. I am just here to help each individual find that drive and encourage them along the way.
Why did you choose to practice at Thriveworks?
I feel Thriveworks creates an environment with structure and support while allowing each clinician to still be true to themselves as an individual.
What inspires you?
I am inspired anytime a client is able to reach a goal or even feel they are making progress. Just a little bit of hope or even a smile in session goes a long way.
What can clients expect in their first session with you?
Clients can expect a warm, open environment with zero judgement. I strive to allow client's time to adjust at their own pace while still feeling as though they are setting themselves up for success in treatment. I also believe creating treatment goals should be a driven by the client to make sure the client feels they are having their needs met.
What do you want to accomplish with an individual in their first session?
In the first session, I hope to accomplish the client feeling a sense of calm, readiness and trust. I also strive to make sure there is a clear direction of where treatment will go next so there are no surprises for the client.
What should clients know about you before scheduling a first session?
A client should know that they are the ones who will be doing the work and no one else, including a therapist, can do it for them. However, they will be given as much support, direction and help as needed on this journey, they will not be doing it alone.
What do you do for fun/on your time off?
In my time off, I enjoy both watching and playing sports. I also enjoy spending time outside with my dog or spending time with friends. If I am lucky, I will get a few weekends at the beach which is my favorite place.
What's one thing about you that defines you (non-professional)?
I feel I am extremely empathetic both in my work and personal life. I also love always being active and open to new experiences.
