Get to know Alexis

Why did you decide to become a counselor or psychiatric provider?

I decided to become a counselor because I have a strong desire to help others, a passion for understanding human behavior and emotions, and a drive to make a positive impact on people's lives.

What types of clients do you work with best?

I work best with children and young adults.

What type of clients are you most excited to work with?

I am excited to work with clients in general. Each client brings unique experiences and challenges.

What's one thing you wish all clients knew?

One thing that can greatly benefit clients is understanding that therapy or counseling is a collaborative process. It's not just about the counselor providing solutions or advice; rather, it's a partnership where both the client and the counselor work together to explore challenges, gain insights, and develop strategies for personal growth and healing.

Clients can benefit from knowing that their active participation, honesty, and willingness to engage in therapeutic work are crucial to achieving positive outcomes. Therapy is a safe space for self-discovery and change, and embracing this process can lead to profound personal transformations.

Why did you choose to practice at Thriveworks?

Thriveworks is known for its commitment to providing quality counseling and therapy services. I choose to practice at Thriveworks because of its reputation for supporting mental health professionals, offering resources for professional development, and maintaining high standards of client care.

What inspires you?

The opportunity to make a meaningful difference in someone's life.

What can clients expect in their first session with you?

Warmth and the start of the next phase of their lives are what clients can expect.

What do you want to accomplish with an individual in their first session?

My goal is to get to know the person and assist them in deciding if a counselor-client relationship is right for them.

What should clients know about you before scheduling a first session?

I want my clients to know that I am enthusiastic and upbeat about helping them.

What do you do for fun/on your time off?

I enjoy working out, going to local markets, and exploring the surrounding areas.

What's one thing about you that defines you (non-professional)?

I have a strong commitment to mental health awareness, my community, and my family.
