Get individual therapy for depression, stress, and more (for yourself or your child/teen). Or, work through your unique relationship challenges in couples/marriage or family therapy.
Reduce or manage symptoms of mental health conditions like anxiety and ADHD, with psychiatric medication.
Browse providers online or call us and we’ll help you find someone who accepts your insurance and fits your needs. Pick a time that works for you and choose how you’d like to pay.
At your first session, share what you’re experiencing and what you’re hoping to get out of treatment. Together, you’ll discuss your options—including whether medication might be a good fit. If so, your provider can send a prescription directly to your local pharmacy.
Your provider will check in regularly to make sure your treatment plan is working for you and adjust as needed.
A selective partial agonist and reuptake inhibitor (SPARI) is a class of medication used to treat mental health conditions like depression.
SPARIs both increase the availability of serotonin and act like serotonin in the brain. By working in these two different ways, SPARIs can be useful to reduce symptoms of major depressive disorder and other mental health conditions.
Mirtazapine is an antidepressant that is used to treat depression.
No, mirtazapine is not a federally controlled substance, since it is not habit-forming. If you have questions about how mirtazapine works, you can talk with your provider or pharmacist.
Yes, studies have shown that taking mirtazapine can cause weight gain. The medication can also cause an increase in appetite. If you’re concerned about possible weight gain with mirtazapine, you can work with your provider to discuss healthy ways to manage your weight.
Mirtazapine starts to work immediately after you take a dose. However, it may take several weeks to months of taking it regularly before you notice an improvement in symptoms. Your provider will likely start you on a low dose to see how you respond to the medication, then gradually increase your dose until the right dose is achieved to manage your symptoms. Talk to your provider if you feel mirtazapine isn’t working for you or your condition. They can discuss your symptoms and recommend other options for you to consider.
Some studies show that mirtazapine is effective for types of anxiety, and it may sometimes be used off-label to treat it, though that is not an officially approved usage of the medication. An “off-label” use is when a medication is used for a condition outside of its approved uses. If you’re interested in learning about whether mirtazapine can help with your anxiety, contact your provider.
Mirtazapine has a half-life of 20 to 40 hours. This means it takes that much time for half the medication to leave your body, though it may take a few weeks for the medication to fully leave the body. If you have other questions about how long mirtazapine stays in your system, talk with your pharmacist or provider.
Mirtazapine is considered a tetracyclic antidepressant, not an antipsychotic. The exact way that mirtazapine works within the body is not known, but scientists believe it works by improving levels of serotonin and norepinephrine in the brain to treat depression symptoms.
You can meet with a licensed provider at Thriveworks, in person or online depending on your state. If it’s clinically appropriate, they may prescribe medication for a diagnosed mental health condition. Your provider will send your prescription to a local pharmacy to be filled.
Thriveworks accepts most major insurance plans for psychiatry and therapy services. Your insurance may also cover the cost of any medication your provider prescribes, which can be filled at a local pharmacy. Check with your plan to confirm your medical and prescription coverage.
Schedule a session with a licensed psychiatric provider at Thriveworks. After discussing your symptoms and treatment goals, your provider may recommend medication and/or additional services to help you get where you want to be.
