I am a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner and experienced Registered Nurse with over a decade of experience in behavioral and mental health care. I am passionate about providing compassionate, evidence-based treatment to adults living with mental health conditions. I earned my Master of Science in Nursing from Walden University and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from D'Youville University. My clinical background spans inpatient psychiatric hospitals, forensic mental health settings, and state-operated behavioral health facilities across North Carolina, Virginia, and Connecticut.
I use a collaborative, evidence-based approach that combines medication management, education, and supportive therapy. I specialize in treating depression, mood disorders, schizophrenia, and insomnia. Clients can expect compassionate care, open communication, and a personalized treatment plan focused on stability, symptom relief, and long-term wellness.
Taking the first step toward mental health treatment can feel overwhelming, but you do not have to face life's challenges alone. Yes, we offer comprehensive psychiatric services to meet your mental health needs.
Psychiatry allows people struggling to manage mental conditions or disorders to get access to medications that will make daily functioning easier, as well as work through any mental factors that might be causing or worsening their condition. Though medications can’t cure mental disorders, medication can make symptoms more manageable, making the process of psychotherapeutic treatment easier and more effective. Psychiatric care can be available through in-person psychiatry and online psychiatry, depending on where you live and your own preferences. However, psychiatric providers at Thriveworks in Durham, NC specifically offer online psychiatry to their clients.
A therapist has an education specifically rooted in therapeutic practice, approaches, techniques, and treatment. They cannot prescribe medications for clients, though they often refer clients to psychiatrists for medication management. Psychiatrists are medically trained doctors who specialize in mental health treatment, mainly through medication management and prescription, though they can also practice therapy.
A Psychiatry Nurse Practitioner (NP) is a highly trained and licensed professional who specializes in mental health care. They are qualified to diagnose and treat mental health conditions, prescribe medications, and provide therapy. Psychiatric NPs at Thriveworks are qualified to prescribe medications for a variety of mental health conditions. They work closely with you to develop a personalized treatment plan.
Oftentimes, psychiatrists or psychiatric professionals will perform a comprehensive psychiatric evaluation, which involves an in-depth discussion about your symptoms, medical history, and current medications. Once they reach a diagnosis, they may suggest starting certain medications depending on your condition and the intensity of your symptoms.
Yes. At Thriveworks, we offer online-only psychiatry services for optimal comfort and convenience.
Psychiatric services at Thriveworks Durham can last for as little or as much time as the client needs to reach their treatment goals, whether that be a month or two or over the course of a year. Treatment length is heavily dependent on the condition(s) being treated, the course of treatment, and the client’s goals for treatment.
Psychiatrists are mental health professionals who can prescribe anxiety medication and provide therapeutic treatment for anxiety, although not all psychiatrists offer therapy. At Thriveworks, medication management occurs via online psychiatry sessions.

Those with personality disorders, mood disorders, and other forms of mental illness can find great benefits in taking a prescribed medication. If medication is the best option for you, it’s essential to disclose any of the past medication you’ve taken and medical history to ensure the wrong medication is not prescribed.
Also, let your Thriveworks psychiatric provider know of any medication you are currently taking, any allergies you have now or have had in the past, and make sure to ask any questions you may have before starting something new.

When taking medication is the right choice for you, your psychiatric provider might consider a mood stabilizer, cognitive enhancer, or antidepressant. There are many different types of medications and your provider will work with you to ensure the best one is taken.
Working with a psychiatric provider online has a lot of benefits that go beyond managing your medication. Online psychiatry allows you to speak with your mental health professional from wherever it is most convenient for you. Also, online appointments are comfortable, easy, and convenient.
