About LaZedra
I'm a dual-certified Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) and Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) with experience in both medical and mental health care, including HIV care. I take a holistic, patient-centered approach and work with adults experiencing anxiety, depression, mood disorders, and stress. I also support individuals navigating life transitions, chronic conditions, and identity-related challenges, and strive to create an inclusive, supportive environment for all.
I focus on creating a "brave space" where you feel safe, respected, and empowered to share openly. Together, we'll identify your goals and begin developing a personalized plan that supports your mental and emotional well-being. My goal is that you leave your session feeling heard, supported, and confident in the direction we're taking together.
You don't have to have everything figured out before getting support. My goal is to meet you where you are, help you feel heard, and work with you to create a plan that feels right for you. When you're ready, I'd be honored to work with you.

"My approach is collaborative, supportive, and patient-centered so my main goal is to create a safe, nonjudgmental space where you feel heard and empowered."

Why did you decide to become a counselor or psychiatric provider?
My decision to become a psychiatric provider was shaped by both my professional experiences and my own journey. During difficult periods in my life, I didn’t always know how to navigate those challenges, but finding the right support was truly life-changing. That experience showed me the power of mental healthcare and inspired me to help others feel the same sense of hope, understanding, and empowerment in their own journeys.
What types of clients do you work best with?
I work best with adults experiencing anxiety, depression, mood disorders, and stress, especially those navigating life transitions or managing chronic conditions. I enjoy working with individuals who are motivated to better understand themselves and make practical changes to improve their mental health. I also prioritize creating an inclusive, supportive environment for diverse populations, including LGBTQ+ individuals.
What's one thing you wish all clients knew about therapy, mental health, or the healing process?
Healing takes time, effort, and patience, and it’s rarely a straight path. But recognizing that something isn’t right and choosing to work on it takes real courage. That first step is often the most important one, and you don’t have to take it alone.
What can clients expect in their first session with you and in the early stages of therapy?
Your first session is all about understanding you—there’s no pressure to have everything figured out. We’ll talk through what’s been going on, what you’ve been feeling, and what you’re hoping to get out of care. We’ll identify your goals and begin developing a personalized plan that supports your mental and emotional well-being. This may include therapy, medication management, or a combination of both, depending on your needs and what you are most comfortable with.
What personal experiences or values inform your practice as a therapist/provider?
I value creating a safe, supportive, and nonjudgmental space where individuals feel heard and respected. My approach is rooted in meeting people where they are and working collaboratively to build a plan that empowers them to improve their mental health and overall well-being.
How do you tailor therapy to meet each client’s unique needs?
I believe therapy should be personalized, not one-sizefits-all. I take time to understand your unique experiences and goals, and we work together to create an approach that feels right for you. Throughout the process, we check in and adjust as needed so your care remains supportive, effective, and aligned with what you need most.
