Starting Codependency therapy

What is codependency therapy?

Codependency therapy with our Thriveworks Raleigh therapists helps people reduce and overcome codependent habits, which involve sacrificing one’s own needs to meet the needs of others (usually those closest to them). It helps to improve one’s well-being as well as the health of their relationships.

How does codependency therapy work?

Codependency therapy works by helping the individual recognize, understand, and accept codependent patterns — including why and how they might’ve developed. In addition, it focuses on helping the individual to kick these tendencies and build more balanced relationships that allow them to support others without neglecting their own needs.

Is codependency therapy conducted in person or online?

Codependency therapy at Thriveworks is conducted both in person and via Online therapy. We encourage you to choose the option that works best for you.

How long does codependency therapy last?

Codependent counseling can last for a few weeks, months, or longer. It depends on the exact needs of the client as well as the severity of their codependent challenges and other needs or preferences.

Raleigh, NC Codependency Counseling – Dependency Disorder Therapy, Codependent

If you or someone who is close to you suffers from a psychological disorder, you will be in a unique position to appreciate how challenging this can make everyday living. That being said, recognizing the symptoms of Codependency and Dependent Personality Disorder can help you understand when you need to seek counseling for Codependency or Dependent Personality Disorder therapy at Thriveworks in Raleigh, NC.

Signs of Codependency

The signs of codependency may manifest as the following:

  • Do you or someone who is close to you feel as though your life is dependent upon another person?
  • Do you or someone who is close to you have low levels of self-esteem or really low self-worth?
  • Is it important to you or someone who is close to you that you feel as though another individual in your life is really dependent upon you looking after them?
  • Do you or someone who is close to you place unfair blame on another person when things go wrong in your life, even if you know that deep down it is not fair?
  • Do you or someone who is close to you have a level of ‘dependency’ between another individual might possibly be considered unhealthy or far too intense by other people?

If you resonate with these, all of these, then it might be time to seek out counseling for Codependency or Dependent Personality Disorder therapy. Had bad fall last year and I was feeling sad, depressed and angry cuz now I couldn't go to see my auntie mom like I was doing two or three times a year.  Now I have to be home I broke my wrist in two places now I have doctors and doctors and doctors and x-rays and all this other stuff going on and I felt like I didn't have my life, didn't have a life right then and I know I would get better but it was taking too long so that was infecting me mentally and so I found the Thriveworks card at my pain doctors office and I gave him a call and immediately they set me up with an appointment.  I've had three or four appointments now.  I'm starting to feel better because I live by myself, I'm 71, and I needed someone to talk to so y'all set me up with a very nice lady.  I learned out to do Zoom and a couple meetings of course, but I'm feeling better  as time goes on.  I still have to have another surgery but at least I'm closer to being able to traveling again right now I can even walk a half a block so thank you Thriveworks for being there for me.  I don't know how ling I need you but I'm glad you're there.  My person is kind to start phone she allows me to talk, she gives me feedback, and I'm just so grateful to have had her during this holiday as well so I've also recommended a couple other people to try Thriveworks right at my doctor's office and they seem interested.  Thank you Thriveworks

I have known Mrs. Ashley Barber-Brown for 18 years now and I can honestly say that she is truly an amazing person. Besides her strong will to work hard and take care of her family, Ashley is also compassionate and undoubtedly dedicated to making sure that she helps others. Her selflessness, loyalty and authentic personality are just some of the many attributes that I admire about her.
