About Taylor
With 5 years of experience in the mental health field, Licensed Clinical Social Worker Taylor Gallaher has worked in various settings with individuals from diverse backgrounds. She began her career in a mental health hospital before transitioning to providing school-based therapy for children before moving into individual counseling. Currently, she focuses on supporting college-aged and adult populations dealing with anxiety, depression, decision-making fatigue, and everyday stress. Her ideal client may struggle with finding balance in their personal or professional life or feel overwhelmed by the demands placed on them.
Taylor holds a Master’s in Social Work from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington. She uses cognitive behavioral therapy, person-centered treatment, and solution-focused therapy to help clients challenge negative thought patterns, build self-awareness, and develop effective coping strategies.
Taylor understands that reaching out for help can be a big step, but she believes everyone deserves support. Whether you're dealing with anxiety, depression, or the everyday stress that life brings, Taylor is here to listen without judgment and work alongside you to find practical solutions.

Why did you decide to become a counselor or psychiatric provider?
I decided to pursue counseling because I’ve always had a passion for helping others and making a positive impact in their lives. I want to help people recognize their potential and lead fulfilling, successful lives. After experiencing therapy, myself, I realized how powerful it could be to have a space for self-reflection, problem-solving, and simply having an outlet for life’s challenges. This inspired me to become a counselor so I could offer that same support and guidance to others.
What types of clients do you work with best?
I work best with clients who are open to personal growth and change. I particularly enjoy working with individuals who are ready to explore new perspectives and are open to finding different outcomes for their challenges. Whether it's developing new coping strategies or approaching problems in fresh ways, I thrive on helping clients who are motivated to make positive changes in their lives.
What type of clients are you most excited to work with?
I’m most excited to work with individuals who are ready to embrace personal growth and make meaningful changes in their lives. The process of gaining fresh insights, challenging old patterns, and supporting clients as they take active steps toward their goals is truly rewarding. I thrive on helping people discover their potential and assisting them in making the positive changes they’re seeking.
What's one thing you wish all clients knew?
One thing I wish all clients knew is that we are all human. We all make mistakes and have our faults, but the most important thing is to love and accept ourselves, flaws, and all. Counseling isn't a "quick fix," but if you're open to building rapport, being honest with yourself, and believing in your own potential, it can be a powerful tool for growth and healing. The process may take time, but the journey is worth it.
Why did you choose to practice at Thriveworks?
I chose to practice at Thriveworks because I was looking for an environment that not only prioritizes the well-being of their clients but also supports and nurtures their clinicians. As a clinician-founded organization, Thriveworks offers a unique structure that fosters growth, collaboration, and ongoing support for its providers. This allows me to focus on delivering the best possible care to my clients while continuing to develop professionally in a supportive and empowering setting.
What inspires you?
As a clinician, what inspires me the most is the opportunity to make a positive difference in someone’s life. I find great fulfillment in being part of your journey toward growth and healing. I’m inspired by the continuous learning and growth that comes with my work. Meeting new people from diverse backgrounds allows me to expand my perspective and enrich my own understanding every day.
What can clients expect in their first session with you?
The first session is all about laying the foundation for a collaborative relationship. It’s an opportunity for us to explore how we can work together and to begin identifying your goals for therapy. I’ll gather some background information and make sure to listen closely to what you hope to achieve during our time together. My goal is that, by the end of our first session, you feel heard, understood, and hopeful about moving forward with your therapy journey.
What do you want to accomplish with an individual in their first session?
In the first session, my main goal is to establish a sense of trust and connection while getting to know you. I want to create a safe, non-judgmental space where you feel comfortable sharing your thoughts and concerns. By the end of the session, I aim for us to have a clear understanding of your needs, leaving you feeling heard, validated, and ready to take the first step toward positive change.
What should clients know about you before scheduling a first session?
This space is yours to be whatever you need it to be. I pride myself on being laid-back and adaptable, meeting you exactly where you’re at in your journey. If you’re looking for someone who follows a strict, by-the-book approach, I may not be the best fit for you. However, if you're open to a more relaxed, flexible environment where we can explore your therapy needs, share some laughs, and even shed a few tears along the way, then this is the right space for you. Therapy isn’t just about addressing challenges—it’s about creating a space where you feel safe, supported, and understood, and where you can show up as your authentic self.
What do you do for fun/on your time off?
In my free time, I enjoy spending time outdoors, especially at the beach, and being outside with my dog. I’m a huge fan of Harry Potter and Disney—both bring so much joy and nostalgia! I also really enjoy reading, visiting local coffee shops, and bookstores. These activities help me unwind and recharge.
What's one thing about you that defines you (non-professional)?
One thing that really defines me is my honesty and reliability as a friend. I believe in being genuine and transparent in all my relationships, and I invest time and energy into nurturing strong, supportive connections.
