About Jenna

Hello! My name is Jenna Aiken. I am a licensed clinical mental health counselor. I work with clients in North Carolina via telehealth. I have a Master's Degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and a certificate in Addiction Counseling. I have an undergraduate degree in Psychology. My professional work experience includes private counseling practice, emergency department crisis assessment, community mental health, substance abuse treatment, and domestic violence prevention. My clinical focus is women, especially mothers, who are experiencing anxiety, depression, or identity shifts.

I believe in meeting clients where they are and creating a warm, supportive environment in which women feel safe to explore themselves and their world. I view clients through a holistic lens. My goal is to empower clients to work through their concerns in the therapy session while they are building a more supportive lifestyle outside the therapy session.

Life can be challenging at times but you are not alone. Healing and growth are possible no matter what you have experienced. If you want support working on your therapeutic goals, please reach out to work with me and schedule an initial assessment. Talk soon!

Get to know Jenna

Why did you decide to become a counselor or psychiatric provider?

I decided to become a counselor after a variety of personal and professional experiences that made me realize something important. I realized that most people who are struggling in life have trauma or emotional concerns that are creating barriers for them to live well and thrive. I decided to focus my professional energy on helping people understand themselves and move forward in life in a healthy way.

What types of clients do you work best with?

I work best with adult women. My passion is for helping mothers and those who hope to become mothers. As a mom of twins, I have a special place in my heart for other moms of multiples who often experience challenges that others don't understand.

What's one thing you wish all clients knew about therapy, mental health, or the healing process?

Progress may not always be linear but growth and healing are always possible.

What can clients expect in their first session with you and in the early stages of therapy?

During our early sessions, my main goal is to help you feel safe and held. I take you through a thorough assessment to help us identify key areas for exploration. This is done at your pace and comfort level. We will create initial treatment goals that we can refine and revise as our work progresses.

What personal experiences or values inform your practice as a therapist/provider?

My experiences as a woman and a mother have made me passionate about supporting others in their own growth and healing.

How do you tailor therapy to meet each client’s unique needs?

I take a collaborative, holistic approach to therapy. We will work together to identify your needs, goals, and preferences. I encourage clients to provide feedback about the helpfulness of our work on an ongoing basis.
