Hello, I am Lizette. I enjoy nature, crocheting, art and music. I did my bachelor’s at Meredith and did my master’s at UNCW. I worked with immigrants and refugees then switched over to clinical support with the supporting Latino and Hispanics in mental health. I found a passion to work with children and teens. Most teens face a struggle for finding who they are, feeling unsupported or unheard and face some challenges in school and at home. I work with them to find themselves and explore to get to understand who they are and feel confident.
My style is to work with the client and their parents. I do fun and creative activities to get the client engaged like art therapy, play therapy, music therapy. I let the client lead with what they wanna work on, if there is nothing I would have something to do. I also tend to have some resources to help the client grow and give a space for clients. .
It is difficult navigating day to day, and sometimes without realizing we get stuck, frustrated, and lost. You can take a moment to schedule an appointment to heal and explore more about why you feel in that way.

"As a Mexican-American first gen daughter, I understand the challenges and traumas that make an impact on oneself to always be changing."
Why did you decide to become a counselor or psychiatric provider?
I decided to become a provider because I understand how it feels to have no one, having to handle everything on your own and feeling like asking for help is a weakness. Having to heal yourself without guidance and building confidence on your own. I became a provider to support my Hispanic and Latino because I understand that stigma of “therapy that’s for crazy people” when it’s not it’s all about healing and grow to become a better version of yourself and liviing a peaceful living with no regrets.
What types of clients do you work best with?
I work best with children, and teens ages 0-17.
What's one thing you wish all clients knew about therapy, mental health, or the healing process?
I wish clients know that it’s okay to ask for help or support, that mental health isn’t a weakness it’s way to strengthen other areas and without knowing you realize it’s a side of you, you never realize. It takes you to make it work.
What can clients expect in their first session with you and in the early stages of therapy?
They can expect understanding their diagnosis and answering any questions and concerns. They can expect activities to get to know each other and a comfortable space.
How do you tailor therapy to meet each client’s unique needs?
I tailor to what the client needs, it’s all about getting to know them and getting feedback to make them feel comfortable and at home or a safe space.
