About Katie
My name is Katie Patton and I am a North Carolina native, mom of three, and proud military spouse. I received my Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from East Carolina University in 2011 and my Master's in School Counseling with add-on licensure as a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor (LCMHC) in 2019. I am also a National Certified Counselor (NCC). I provide counseling services to children, adolescents, adults, families, and groups, tailoring treatment to each individual's unique needs, strengths, and goals. I strive to provide a safe, compassionate, and collaborative environment where meaningful growth can occur.
Clients can expect a compassionate, nonjudgmental environment where authenticity, curiosity, and collaboration are valued. My goal is to help clients move forward and learn a holistic way of healing to challenge unhelpful patterns, build confidence, strengthen relationships, and develop tools to navigate life's challenges with greater resilience and hope.
Taking the first step toward counseling can feel overwhelming, and you don't have to navigate it alone. Whether you're carrying the weight of past experiences or long for peace, you deserve a space where you feel heard and supported. Healing is possible, and I would be honored to walk alongside you. I invite you to reach out and schedule an appointment.

"My heart is to help others feel safe, understood, and empowered as they navigate healing and discover the resilience they already possess."

Why did you decide to become a counselor or psychiatric provider?
I believe healing happens in relationships. I believe people need someone in their darkest moments to help discover their story isn't over. I believe people are worthy of compassion, capable of resilience, and never defined by a snapshot from life. Creating a space where people feel safe enough to find their inner safety and peace to eventually heal and cope independently is a passion.
What types of clients do you work best with?
I look forward to working with all types of clients. My strengths resonate most with individuals who have spent years taking care of everyone but themselves, people with complex trauma or childhood wounds, clients that are emotionally insightful but feel stuck, adolescents who need a trustworthy adult, people navigating grief and major life transitions, or people who have never felt truly understood.
What's one thing you wish all clients knew about therapy, mental health, or the healing process?
Therapy isn't always a "cure" or "simple fix" and the therapist isn't in control. The therapist is simply a guide. Treatment is valuable but focus should be restoration and it's not always linear. Growth and healing are a process, and at times it may feel counterproductive because we're abandoning long term ingrained patterns of avoidance.
What can clients expect in their first session with you and in the early stages of therapy?
Clients can expect being met with genuine warmth and talking with someone who is truly curious about who they are, not just an evaluation of "what is wrong". In the early stages we will focus on understanding their story not just rushing to "fix it". We will look beyond symptoms and listen to experiences, relationships, strengths, and values that have shaped them while feeling emotionally and physically safe. We will collaborate on goals to ensure the client feels in control at a pace that is comfortable.
What personal experiences or values inform your practice as a therapist/provider?
Values that ground my practice include compassion over judgment, hope grounded in reality, the healing power of relationships, respect for each person's individuality, and creating a safe space. I know from experience that people often carry invisible burdens and genuine empathy can change the course of someone's life. I know healing isn't linear and resilience grows when people feel safe enough to be honest.
How do you tailor therapy to meet each client’s unique needs?
I believe there is no onesize-fits-all approach to therapy. Every client brings a unique story, set of strengths, experiences, and goals. I tailor treatment by taking the time to understand the whole person- not just the challenges that bring them to therapy. Together, we develop an individualized plan that draws on evidence-based practices while remaining flexible to their needs, preferences and pace.
