Get to know Georleena

Why did you decide to become a counselor or psychiatric provider?

As a teen, I felt unheard and I decided at 17 years old that I would pursue a career that would allow me to be a sounding board, supporter, and advocate for those who feel unheard also.

What types of clients do you work with best?

I work best with teens and young adults.

What type of clients are you most excited to work with?

Black women/black teens

What's one thing you wish all clients knew?

Therapy can be fun, all while doing serious work.

Why did you choose to practice at Thriveworks?

The flexibility

What inspires you?

Prosperity and growth within the black community, especially concerning out mental wellbeing.

What can clients expect in their first session with you?

While it might not seem exciting completing intake forms is generally my top priority during the first session. Through the questionnaire, I have the ability to ask questions and get a good idea of what the client may need and if I am the right therapist to deliver it.

What do you want to accomplish with an individual in their first session?

The completion of intake forms.

What should clients know about you before scheduling a first session?

While I express a strong sense of movement for the black community, I encourage anyone who is experiencing mental destress to seek counseling, as it can make a difference if they are willing to do the work

What do you do for fun/on your time off?

I like to paint, write, watch anime, cook, shop and clean (its therapeutic)

What's one thing about you that defines you (non-professional)?

My sense of humor. I love a good laugh
