Why did you decide to become a counselor?
I have always loved people’s stories and to journey with people through them as they allow me. I am a social worker more because of WHO I am rather than what I DO. It is my heart to see people thrive and get to witness and be a part of growing deeper. I landed in counseling naturally and in my career I have done many things and worked in many different areas of social work. Being here, to be a therapist, is a beautiful way to just live this journey with others who are willing to grow and need support.
What’s one thing you wish all clients knew?
I wish all clients knew that they have what they need to grow, change and become all they want to be. They are beautifully unique and strong with gifts that equip them to get through their challenges. I wish they all knew that “they are enough” and they are amazing as they are and as they are growing to be.
What inspires you?
Honestly, I am inspired by people’s stories of resilience, vulnerability, and living through the challenges to thrive.
What can clients expect in their first session with you?
People can expect me to be someone to listen, who is passionate about understanding what brought them to counseling. I will explore with them what they identify as their challenges and what they would like to work to see happen.
What do you do for fun/on your time off?
I love to read, walk with my granddaughter, spend time with my family and close friends and pets and listen to music while I write in journals or write letters. I love to be a part of someone getting a letter and having that letter bring joy to them. I have a commitment to write one letter a week or at least 2 a month with cards that are unique and an artistic creation, like the person receiving them.
