Why did you decide to become a counselor or psychiatric provider?
I became a counselor to help others discover their purpose and learn to advocate for themselves. I want people to recognize their worth beyond what life has handed them and find a sense of balance, no matter the challenges they’ve faced. Life can be overwhelming—I know firsthand how difficult it can be when everything feels stacked against you. But I also know that rebuilding is possible. My goal is to equip others with the tools and skills to overcome obstacles, find inner strength, and create a fulfilling life, even in the face of hardship.
What types of clients do you work with best?
I work best with adults (ages 20 and up) who are navigating life transitions, struggling with anxiety, self-doubt, or feeling stuck in unhealthy patterns. My experience spans community-based behavioral health, corrections, and crisis intervention, allowing me to connect with individuals facing a wide range of challenges. I thrive in helping clients who are ready to explore their inner strengths, challenge limiting beliefs, and develop practical coping strategies. Whether someone is dealing with stress, trauma, or uncertainty about their future, I provide a solution-focused, CBT-based approach to help them regain confidence, resilience, and a sense of control over their lives.
What type of clients are you most excited to work with?
I am most excited to work with families, couples, and college students navigating life transitions or facing uncertainty about their behaviors and emotions. I enjoy helping clients gain clarity, build stronger relationships, and develop the tools they need to move forward with confidence. Whether they are adjusting to new life stages, facing challenges in their personal or academic lives, or seeking a deeper understanding of themselves, I am passionate about guiding them toward growth, self-awareness, and lasting change.
What's one thing you wish all clients knew?
Nothing in life is set in stone. While some things may be out of our control, we have the power to navigate challenges in a way that protects our well-being. It’s important to find balance—to ensure that we are not constantly pouring into others or our circumstances without also replenishing ourselves. Growth comes from learning how to adapt, set boundaries, and create a life that gives back to us just as much as we give to it.
Why did you choose to practice at Thriveworks?
I chose to practice at Thriveworks because of its commitment to making high-quality mental health care accessible, supportive, and empowering for both clients and clinicians. Thriveworks provides a collaborative and growth-oriented environment, allowing me to focus on what matters most—helping clients navigate their challenges and build fulfilling lives. The organization’s emphasis on holistic, client-centered care aligns with my approach, which integrates Solution-Focused Therapy, CBT, mindfulness, and personal empowerment to guide individuals toward lasting change. I also appreciate Thriveworks’ dedication to professional development and its supportive network, which allows me to continually grow as a clinician while providing the best care possible.
What inspires you?
Besides my mom and her family, I am inspired by people who advocate for themselves while still uplifting others, even when they are carrying more than they can handle. Their resilience, strength, and willingness to support those around them, despite their own challenges, serve as a powerful reminder of the impact we can have when we choose to persevere and empower others.
What can clients expect in their first session with you?
In our first session, clients can expect a collaborative and welcoming conversation where we get to know each other. While it may feel like a question-and-answer session, this is a crucial step in building a foundation for our work together. We will explore the client’s main concerns, discuss how long they have been experiencing these challenges, and begin to identify their goals for therapy. This session serves as the starting point for creating a personalized plan that aligns with their needs and desired outcomes.
What do you want to accomplish with an individual in their first session?
In the first session, my goal is to build a strong foundation for our work together by creating a safe and open space where the client feels comfortable sharing. I want to understand their main concerns, explore how long they have been experiencing these challenges, and identify their desired outcomes.
I also want to help clients understand that Rome wasn’t built in a day—therapy is a process, and the first session is just the beginning. We won’t cover everything at once, but we will take the necessary steps to clarify the therapy process and define both my role as a therapist and their role as a client. This session helps us develop a personalized plan that aligns with their needs and goals, ensuring they feel heard, supported, and empowered to move forward.
What do you do for fun/on your time off?
In my free time, I enjoy immersing myself in creative and relaxing activities. I love journaling and coloring as a way to unwind and express my thoughts. You can often find me listening to audiobooks, watching K-dramas or anime, and enjoying K-pop music—all of which fuel my love for storytelling and different cultures. I also enjoy exploring new restaurants, traveling to concerts when I can, and spending quality time with friends and family. Additionally, I love writing letters to pen pals, which allows me to connect with people in a meaningful way.
What's one thing about you that defines you (non-professional)?
One thing that defines me is my diverse upbringing as a military brat with deep cultural roots. Growing up in different parts of the world while embracing my Guyanese heritage from my mother’s side and my father’s Southern roots from North Carolina has shaped the way I see the world. This unique background has allowed me to experience and appreciate different cultures, perspectives, and walks of life, making me deeply empathetic and open-minded. I naturally give people the benefit of the doubt, approach situations with understanding, and value the richness of human experiences.
