Philosophy of Care

Dr. Kelly Gardiner is an ANCC Board Certified Adult Psychiatric Clinical Nurse Specialist, a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, and a Ph.D. in Public Health. Dr. Gardiner has 30 years of psychiatry experience in treating mild to severe mental illness in adults.

Suppose you have a mental health condition along with Multiple Sclerosis, a developmental disorder, sleep disorder, Parkinson's, dementia, HIV, a history of bariatric surgery, lupus, seizures, or a history of a brain injury (including stroke). In that case, she will enjoy working with you and collaborating care with your specialists and general medical provider.

If you don't have any of the above medical conditions, Dr. Gardiner would still love to work with you. Maybe it is time that you invested in yourself by getting an appointment? Dr. Gardiner works with you to decide the best plan of action to get you feeling better again. She uses the safest and least amount of medication for your condition. She will also explain your diagnosis to you and various treatment options available.

Carl graduated from Wayne with his Master of Social Work degree. He also has a Master of Education Degree. He is a hypnotist and is able to use EMDR. He has a CAADC from MCBAP. He is a licensed marriage & family therapist as well as a licensed Master Social Worker with clinical and macro certification. 

Carl Catanese has a private practice in Macomb County. He is a social work consultant at Stonecrest Psychiatric Hospital. He worked in the public school system for 25 years. He owned and directed a counseling practice in Macomb County. He had three full time therapists working for him. He has supervised social work interns from Wayne State, University of Michigan and Oakland University.

Carl has worked with school children, families, marriages as well as people suffering from various psychiatric disorders. He has worked with alcohol/substance disorders. He has worked with persons with autistic disorders and cognitively impaired. He has done group therapy with all of the above.

Carl believes that mental health care is a critical and necessary for some people. Clients should feel free to deal with their emotional struggles both major and minor. It can be a growth experience for the client as well at the therapist. 

Carl and his family live in Macomb County. His wife is a professional choir director and directs Cantata Academy. His son is finishing his occupational therapy degree at Oakland University.
