Starting Divorce counseling

What is Divorce counseling?

Thriveworks divorce counseling in Sterling Heights, MI can help couples understand if they want to divorce or help them move forward post-divorce. Either way, it helps them navigate conflicts and/or tough conversations that pertain to their relationship and individual selves.

How does Divorce counseling work?

  • Help with different stages of the divorce and separation process
  • A better understanding of what went wrong in the relationship
  • A third party perpsective that ensures both parties are heard

Need more help deciding?

When a couple promises to devote the rest of their lives to each other—to spend forever together, even through the bad or difficult times—divorce is not on their radar. They promise that they will work through whatever obstacle comes their way. But the harsh reality is that not every couple manages to do so. In fact, as of 2018, 39% of spouses end up divorcing and due to a wide range of reasons. Whatever the reason may be, separating is rarely easy. It can have negative effects on both individuals, as they close this chapter of their lives and wonder what’s next.

“Some people believe holding on and hanging in there are signs of strength. However, there are times when it takes much more strength to know when to let go and then do it.” –Ann Landers

Fortunately, they can learn to work through these difficult emotions and navigate the road ahead with the help of a divorce counselor at Thriveworks Sterling Heights in Macomb. • Sadness
  • Anger
  • Loneliness
  • Contempt

These are just some of the painful emotions one might experience in the midst of a divorce. Divorce counselors can help their clients to address and overcome other obstacles as well. They will use their experience and expertise to guide you through each session and build a happier, healthier life post-divorce.

How Does Divorce Counseling Help?

There is no one right way to recover well from a divorce. The process will depend heavily on what led to the divorce and how it has affected you. Let’s delve into a few important factors when it comes to divorce recovery, by posing a few revealing questions:

  • Was the divorce a mutual decision?
  • Do you understand why your marriage has come to divorce?
  • Are you experiencing intense emotional pain?
  • Do you think this separation is for the better?
  • Have you received closure? Do you still need closure?
  • Did you decide to divorce suddenly or has it been a long time coming?

Your answers to these questions will help to guide divorce recovery in counseling. Your divorce counselor at Thriveworks Sterling Heights in Macomb will likely ask you questions similar to those above to best understand your unique feelings and needs. Then, they can develop a plan to help you heal and live better.

My overall experience has been as expected when dealing with behavior healthcare. There is no real care for the patient and their needs. I spent an hour on the phone with a call center rep from the billing department who said I had no insurance on file, then proceeded to transfer me to the correct department who said I did. I have been without medication that was prescribed on Monday. When I received a call back from the psychiatrist, it seemed that your company forgot to send it over. That is unacceptable behavior when it comes to dealing with any customer.

It's a wonderful experience working with Cornelia Golden. She presents a healthy balance of comfortability and professionalism. She listens with the intent to hear what is being said and yet hear what's not being said. Cornelia has a very calming presence and I feel both confident in her counseling skills and that my concerns are professionally cared for. She is a very capable counselor. Clients will greatly benefit from working with her. I am happy to write this review for Ms. Cornelis Golden.
