About
I believe healing happens in relationships, and I am committed to creating an LGBTQIA+ affirming space where you feel seen, safe, and empowered to navigate identity, life transitions, and emotional pain with hope and support.
I am Dr. Benjamin T. Finlayson, PhD, LMFT-S, a relational and couples therapist specializing in LGBTQIA+ affirming care. I work with individuals, couples, and families navigating relationship challenges, communication difficulties, identity exploration, and life transitions. My clients often seek deeper connection, stronger communication, and practical tools to build healthier, more satisfying relationships while feeling truly understood and supported in therapy.
I use evidence-based methods including EFT, SFBT, and relational approaches to support clients through relationship growth, conflict resolution, identity exploration, career and family transitions, and personal enrichment. Clients can expect practical tools, compassionate guidance, and strategies to foster meaningful, lasting change.
Seeking support can feel challenging, but you don't have to navigate it alone. I am committed to creating a safe, affirming space where you feel seen and valued. When you're ready, I welcome the opportunity to support you in deepening connection, enhancing communication, and cultivating fulfilling relationships.

As a therapist, I bring warmth, compassion, and curiosity to our work together, meeting you where you are while supporting meaningful and lasting change.
I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) with over 10 years of experience providing therapy to children, adolescents, and adults. I specialize in helping individuals navigate trauma, anxiety, depression, ADHD, bipolar disorder, grief and loss, family conflict, and life's many transitions. My approach is strength-based, holistic, and trauma-informed, with a focus on helping clients build resilience, develop practical coping skills, and create meaningful, lasting change.
I earned my Master of Social Work from Columbia University and have advanced training in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), and Child-Parent Psychotherapy (CPP). Throughout my career, I have supported individuals and families facing a wide range of emotional, behavioral, and relational challenges.
I believe therapy is most effective when it is built on trust, collaboration, and connection. My goal is to create a warm, supportive, and nonjudgmental space where you feel heard, respected, and empowered to explore your experiences. Together, we will build on your strengths, navigate life's challenges, and work toward goals that align with your values.

Jaelyn Aragon is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) who specializes in working with children, teens, and adults who are struggling to cope with issues related to addiction, depression, anxiety, undeveloped coping skills, chronic illness, family conflict, trauma, PTSD, sexual or physical abuse, parenting difficulties, and much more.
Jaelyn works from a person-centered approach that borrows strategies from narrative therapy and insights from an existential lens. She knows that the client is an expert on themselves, but may need guidance from a counselor to help navigate the trials and tribulations of life. Jaelyn’s journey into counseling began with her work at Safe Passage Children’s Advocacy Center, where she volunteered for over two years. The experience taught her the value of meeting a client at whatever place or mindset they are in, and she learned how to respond to a range of emotional situations while being an advocate for the client’s best interest.
Jaelyn knows that everyone carries experiences that help to shape who they are. She is devoted to helping people process those experiences. Reach out to schedule a session with her, where you'll work together as a team to start achieving your personal goals.

As an experienced Psychiatric Provider, I understand that your treatment goals are important, and I will work closely with you to achieve your goals.
Hello! My name is Sherry McCoy and I am an ANCC certified Psychiatric Mental Health Clinical Nurse Specialist. I have been working in this role since 2011. Prior to 2011, I spent many years working as an RN. I treat patients with depression, anxiety, ADHD, trauma, grief, and many other psychiatric issues. I enjoy helping people achieve the best possible version of themselves! When I see a new patient for the first time, I like to get to know them. I ask questions both about your history, and your future treatment goals in order to help you identify the most appropriate treatment plan possible.
I believe that your treatment plan should reflect both where you are currently, and where you would like to be in the future. I will do my best to help you achieve your goals!
Everyone should have the opportunity to be the best version of themselves possible. I would be honored to work with you to achieve your personal treatment goals. If you are ready to begin this journey, please schedule an appointment and we will get started as soon as possible.

LGBTQIA+ counseling is a type of queer affirmative counseling dedicated to assisting individuals and couples in navigating the intricate intersections of their sexual orientation, gender identity, and mental health, with a primary goal of fostering well-being, self-acceptance, and affirming a client’s life experiences as a queer individual. Although not all LGBTQ+ individuals seek specialized counseling, a substantial number discover vital support and empathy within these inclusive and affirming therapeutic settings.
Thriveworks LGBTQ+ counseling in Colorado Springs, CO typically begins with an initial assessment to understand your specific needs. LGBTQ+ counselors aim to create a safe, inclusive, and affirming environment for anyone within the LGBTQ+ community by encouraging self-acceptance and offering an understanding of your identity and experiences. LGBTQ+ therapy addresses issues like coming out, discrimination, mental health challenges, and gender transition, and provides support for LGBTQ+ relationships.
LGBTQ+ counseling is incredibly important because it can help queer individuals accept their identity, learn self-love, and give them important tools for facing the challenges of being a queer person in today’s society, among many other benefits. LGBTQ+-affirming therapists can understand the unique perspective and experiences of queer individuals as they help them process past trauma, address family conflicts, treat issues with anxiety, and more.
Thriveworks LGBTQ+ counseling in Colorado Springs, CO is conducted both in person and online by video. We encourage you to choose the option that works best for you.
The number of sessions for LGBTQ+ counseling depends on the specific needs and goals of the individual. It could encompass a relatively limited series of sessions or extend into a longer counseling plan. The precise quantity and duration of sessions typically emerge through collaborative discussion with the counselor, taking into account the client’s progress and their therapeutic objectives.
It’s safe to say that most people would highly disagree with being told there are only two colors in the world- blue and pink- and that they must choose their favorite from those two. We all know from sight there are innumerable colors with different hues, shades, and strengths. However, if this same idea is applied to gender and sexuality, society would respond differently. Although the world has come a long way in accepting members of the LGBTQ community, there is still a lot of injustice, often times resulting in pain, directed towards those who simply see a wider array of colors than the majority. If you are part of this community, Thriveworks Colorado Springs would like to welcome you to our community of support, self-growth and healing. We invite you to schedule a session if you think that you could benefit from talking to one of our providers.
Our Thriveworks Colorado Spring’s counselors’ first goal to achieve with you, will be to heal any wounds that are already there. Identifying as lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, or questioning can wear down the human soul and mind, resulting in difficulties such as:
Thriveworks Colorado Springs will work with you in overcoming these challenges and more. We understand, however, that just because nothing is holding you back doesn’t mean you will effortlessly begin to grow. How you identify with your gender and sexuality is a big part of who you are, but not all of it. What gets you up in the morning? What are your strengths? Your weakness? Someone (sources disagree who exactly) once said:
Together, we will define the parts of you that make you one-of-a-kind and amazing. How do you want to present yourself to the world? What parts do you wish to strengthen? Colorado Springs’ counselors can help you with your transition to a different gender or a different mindset.
Finally, what are your goals? Are you trying to ‘come out’ to your friends and family? Perhaps you want to start your own business but are apprehensive for how customers will react? Is your aim college, but are unsure how to present yourself? Thriveworks Colorado Springs is here to guide you towards your goals and away from your fears.
Colorado Springs counselors are here to care for you and your loved ones through confidential, individual counseling that can help you become the best version of you!
