Kathleen “Kate” Ivory, LPC
Philosophy of Care
“Thoughts become things...choose the good ones!" (-Mike Dooley/TUT).
Kate has over 13 years’ experience as a Licensed Professional Counselor in Pennsylvania. She takes a holistic, eclectic, integrative approach to counseling, with the desire to create a "home base" -- a safe, caring, empathic and nonjudgmental environment to explore, heal, and reunite the physical, mental, emotional and spiritual aspects of who you are. She incorporates traditional evidence-based modalities; wisdom gleaned from broad life experiences; a deep, spiritual relationship with her own humanness; and good old-fashioned common sense.
One of Kate’s greatest realizations is that our thoughts and beliefs are not always reliable sources of information. When faced with stress, sorrow, pain, trauma and tragedy, inaccurate thoughts and beliefs can lead to depression, anxiety, shame, guilt, and unnecessary suffering. This in turn can lead us down distressing paths.
Kate commends you for recognizing and accepting that you can't figure it all out by yourself. She desires to help you learn to think clearly and effectively in times of crisis; show courage in the face of trauma; and find humor amid tragedy. She endeavors to help you make sense out of things that just don't seem to make sense.

Sharon Graaf, PMHNP
Philosophy of Care
Sharon M. Graaf has been a Registered Nurse (RN) for 35 years and a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) for 6 of those years. Sharon specializes in attention deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, obsessive-compulsive disorder, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), and sleep issues. For the past 6 years she has been seeing primarily children and adolescents and also adult clients in an outpatient setting for psychiatric evaluations, diagnosis, and medication management.
Sharon completed her master’s and post master’s degrees from Wilkes University. She is certified by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC). She began her career working as a registered nurse at a long-term state psychiatric hospital and a state prison. Her career path seemed to align with seeing patients that required mental health intervention. She acquired much mental health experience at those jobs and that is the reason she pursued the psychiatric focus for her higher education.
During the psychiatric evaluation Sharon seeks a thorough understanding of your symptoms, past and present, in order to identify potential causes, including any medical or biological factors that could have caused the issues you are having. She will discuss past medications that you have tried and therapies that have worked and not worked for you. She will discuss potential side effects if medication is prescribed, and your feelings about taking medications. She will provide an appointment that is relaxed and low-key so you can remember all that you would like to discuss. She will listen attentively. Sometimes the tension of having a mental health appointment with a provider causes an enormous amount of stress. Sharon believes that building a trusting rapport with her clients is a very important part of success in treatment.
