Why did you decide to become a counselor?
I sort of fell into it. Some of my friends would come to me about their problems. When I was teaching daycare, I saw how hard my students were struggling and I wanted to learn how to help them. Furthermore, my dad is a retired medical doctor. So helping and caring for people is a family trait.
What types of clients do you work with best?
I work best with folks who are motivated to improve their lives and are willing to put in the work.
What type of clients are you most excited to work with?
I enjoy working with a variety of individuals. I work best with those who are open and honest about what's going on in their lives and what they need from me.
What's one thing you wish all clients knew?
Therapy lasts as long as it is appropriate. It can take a few months to a few years. It is not an immediate panacea.
Why did you choose to practice at Thriveworks?
I like how therapist focused it is as well as them being supportive of their clients.
What inspires you?
Helping clients figure out how to work through their problems.
What can clients expect in their first session with you?
During the first session I'm trying to understand what challenges you're going through and start building our working relationship together by learning what are your special abilities and what you're passionate about doing.
What do you want to accomplish with an individual in their first session?
I want the client to feel like they've been heard and they're willing to work with me.
What should clients know about you before scheduling a first counseling session?
I'm a very open-minded person and that I'm not going to be scared off because their problem feels overwhelming. I have a very "can do" attitude.
What do you do for fun/on your time off?
I play video games, listen to music, play with my cats, spend time with my partner, and weight lift.
What's one thing about you that defines you (non-professional)?
I have a deep love for music. It's one element of the world that can bring everyone together.
