Why did you decide to become a counselor or psychiatric provider?
I became a counselor to try and provide an environment for individual's mental health needs that I couldn't find when I was younger. I have spent years educating myself about mental health disorders (outside of formal eduation) to understand all aspects to give my mind and body answers about why it operates the way it does.
What types of clients do you work with best?
I feel that I work best with clients that have high motivation and a genuine interest in understanding their minds and bodies. I enjoy individuals being curious about their mental health, about psychology and providing an atmosphere that allows for exploration.
What type of clients are you most excited to work with?
I am excited to work with highly motivated clients with low acuity to help them through their life and mental health concerns.
What's one thing you wish all clients knew?
That healing takes time and that slow and steady wins the race and instant gratification is not possible with mental health symptoms.
Why did you choose to practice at Thriveworks?
To have more autonomy over my clients and more autonomy over being a clinician. I am excited as well for flexibility.
What inspires you?
Compassion inspires me greatly. I feel like there is a world that we exist in that lacks a lot of compassion. I want to be a person that can be a model of how compassion and love can create change in many ways.
What can clients expect in their first session with you?
Clients can expect that rapport building will be very important. In that stage I will be able to notice symptoms presented over different stages of life to help better understand their needs. I find it important to have a go-with-the flow rather than structured approach to care to help individuals learn to cope as life goes along with using those skills for lifelong mental health symptoms.
What do you want to accomplish with an individual in their first session?
I woud like to establish comfortability, familiarity, and further defining their goals or wishes of what they want/need from therapy.
What should clients know about you before scheduling a first session?
I am a very authentic person and my authenticity is a powerful part in my therapeutic approach.
What do you do for fun/on your time off?
I make a lot of art and I love to spend time with my dog and husband.
What's one thing about you that defines you (non-professional)?
The ability to remain resilient.
