Why did you decide to become a counselor?
I am a therapist because I am passionate about self-discovery, exploration and healing. If I think of the darkest moments in my life, as well as of those around me, I know the power of having someone there to support and encourage you to be your authentic self. I am a therapist because life can be full of challenges. I am a therapist because I want to walk alongside people in this journey as they become empowered and liberated.
What’s one thing you wish all clients knew?
I wish all client's knew that there is nothing to be nervous or scared about when coming to therapy, especially the first time. I wish client's knew that I am just a human too who has had a lifetime of self-discovery and healing. I wish client's know that we clinicians care deeply and want you to succeed! I know that was more than one thing but they all seemed relevant!
Why did you choose to practice at Thriveworks?
I chose to practice at Thriveworks when I learned about their core values. I especially like the "make it happen" core value where, clinically, we find creative ways to meet the unique needs of our clients.
What inspires you?
I always feel inspired when I go for a walk or hike. I will notice something different every time I go. Even if it is the twentieth time I'm wandering down the same path, I will notice something new. Nature is always active and finding ways to flourish. We need to adapt, change, and improve constantly just like nature!
What can clients expect in their first session with you?
In the first session, client's can expect me to thank them for being brave and making the decision to come to therapy. After that, they can expect me to ask what their goals are for therapy along with some background and personal history.
What do you want to accomplish with an individual in their first session?
In an individual's first session, I want to accomplish obtaining a clear outline of the client's goals and expectations for their journey to self-improvement. Additionally, I want to begin the process of building a strong therapeutic relationship with my client so that we can dig in and get working on those goals.
What do you do for fun/on your time off?
For fun I like to walk with my dog Ellie (who always makes an appearance in our sessions), paddle board, read, explore new towns and parks, and eat dessert.
What’s one thing about you that defines you (non-professional)?
One thing that defines me is my "word" - if I say I am going to do something, I am going to do it.
