About
As a member of the lgbtqia+ community, with long term health conditions, I understand how important it is to have someone to talk to and work through life's challenges.
I am a licensed professional counselor with 9 years of experience supporting clients through anxiety, depression, addiction, lgbtqia+ concerns, life transitions, and self-esteem challenges. I take an open-minded and eclectic approach to treatment, drawing from cbt, motivational interviewing, and person-centered strategies to help clients feel safe, understood, and empowered to explore their experiences without judgment.
I hold a master’s degree in rehabilitation counseling from the University of South Carolina. My background includes adlerian theory and a range of evidence-based interventions that help clients examine where unhelpful thoughts originate and how to replace them with healthier beliefs and choices.
I am here to support you with compassion and collaboration. Wherever you are starting from, whatever you have experienced, and whatever goals you’re working toward, we can walk through it together. I would be honored to be part of your growth and help you move toward a more grounded, hopeful version of yourself.

As a therapist who has participated in therapy myself, I know how important it is to find a provider you connect with and feel truly seen by. I specialize in seeing the person in the room as a fully unique human being and in working with them to untangle the challenges they’re facing so they can grow into their fullest potential.
As a licensed master social worker (LMSW) with 4 years of experience, I've worked in a variety of settings where I’ve helped people navigate a range of issues including trauma, anxiety, relational conflict, and depression. From an intensive outpatient program to a major medical hospital, I’ve sat with people on some of the worst days of their lives, accompanying them through immense grief and loss, chronic stress, vicarious trauma, and major life transitions. I work with preteens to older adults using a flexible, integrative approach that weaves together evidence-based practices with each client’s individual needs and preferences.
I earned my master’s in social work from the University of Tennessee. I use tools like acceptance and commitment therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, and mindfulness-based interventions, but above all my priority is to show up as just another human in the room, navigating this hard, messy, beautiful life alongside my clients.
In our work together, I will sit with you in your pain, your confusion, your anger, or whatever you’re bringing into the space, and help you be with it, make sense of it, and ultimately, transform it. Therapy can be hard. Life is hard. And yet here you are, because you know there’s something better waiting for you. Let’s find out what it is.

I use CBT. CBT gives the client the skills to challenge negative thought distortions and reframe their thoughts so that they feel more in control of their emotions.
I teach clients to challenge negative thought distortions — i.e., what evidence do I have to support these thoughts? I also teach reframing — instead of thinking “nobody likes me,” think “there are some people I may not get along with or see eye to eye.”
When they give feedback on the tools they use and how successful they are in using them, and feel more grounded and in control in an anxiety-provoking situation.
Meditation, exercise, listening to music, talking to a friend, and journaling are all great ways to supplement anxiety therapy.
Before your first session, identify triggers and how your body responds when anxious.
Anxiety therapy helps people better understand and manage their anxiety. Anxiety therapists at Thriveworks in Mt Pleasant, SC can develop a treatment plan that will help you better manage your day-to-day anxiety or your anxiety disorder.
Anxiety therapy involves talking to a therapist about symptoms, potential causes, and more. Thriveworks Mt Pleasant therapists will then work with you to determine where your anxiety might stem from and teach you effective coping mechanisms.
One of the best ways to deal with anxiety is to learn about your own anxiety: your symptoms, what triggers it, and what coping mechanisms have been effective in the past. When you learn what your anxiety is tied to, it can help you be mindful of what’s really happening as well as prevent and mitigate symptoms by processing and working through the issue in therapy. Other strategies that have been shown to help manage anxiety are meditation, challenging anxious thoughts, exercising, and journaling.
Common symptoms of anxiety include:
Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) can be incredibly effective in treating anxiety and anxiety disorders. Other effective techniques include exposure therapy, Dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), Acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), and EMDR therapy.
Anxiety therapy is conducted both in person and online, depending on the individual’s preferences and their therapist’s availability. We suggest choosing the option that best suits your needs.
On average, people can tend to attend 15 to 20 session of anxiety therapy (five or more months). However, this number is heavily dependent on the type of anxiety that’s being treated and its severity, with many choosing to attend anxiety therapy for a longer period of time to ensure its effectiveness long-term.
Yes, it is worth going to therapy for anxiety. If you are struggling with regular anxious thoughts and feelings that are affecting your day-to-day life or you suspect that you have an anxiety disorder, you should seek expert anxiety help.
