About Provider

About Jesse

I am a licensed professional counselor with 9 years of experience supporting clients through anxiety, depression, addiction, lgbtqia+ concerns, life transitions, and self-esteem challenges. I take an open-minded and eclectic approach to treatment, drawing from cbt, motivational interviewing, and person-centered strategies to help clients feel safe, understood, and empowered to explore their experiences without judgment.

I hold a master’s degree in rehabilitation counseling from the University of South Carolina. My background includes adlerian theory and a range of evidence-based interventions that help clients examine where unhelpful thoughts originate and how to replace them with healthier beliefs and choices.

I am here to support you with compassion and collaboration. Wherever you are starting from, whatever you have experienced, and whatever goals you’re working toward, we can walk through it together. I would be honored to be part of your growth and help you move toward a more grounded, hopeful version of yourself.

Get to know Jesse

Why did you decide to become a counselor or psychiatric provider?

I have long been passionate about helping others learn and grow. I originally started as an adjunct professor, but found that working with small groups or one on one was both more effective and rewarding.

What types of clients do you work best with?

Many of my proudest moments in counseling come from working with those who have low self-esteem or have been overlooked or mistreated by others. I believe that everyone has value and worth and I enjoy helping clients reach their potential.

What's one thing you wish all clients knew about therapy, mental health, or the healing process?

Even though there is hard work involved and it can be intense, there are also fun moments and laughter and joy.

What can clients expect in their first session with you and in the early stages of therapy?

In the first session we will work on establishing a safe space where the client can feel comfortable sharing their thoughts and feelings. We will establish some general goal(s) and the kind of steps we will take together to reach them.

What personal experiences or values inform your practice as a therapist/provider?

My experiences as a father, a partner, a member of the LGBTQIA+ community, and as a traveler to different parts of the world have all impacted my practice.

How do you tailor therapy to meet each client’s unique needs?

I listen carefully and openly to what each person shares and then use a variety of counseling theories and techniques to best meet the needs of each individual client.
