About Jennifer
As a licensed master social worker (LMSW) with 4 years of experience, I've worked in a variety of settings where I’ve helped people navigate a range of issues including trauma, anxiety, relational conflict, and depression. From an intensive outpatient program to a major medical hospital, I’ve sat with people on some of the worst days of their lives, accompanying them through immense grief and loss, chronic stress, vicarious trauma, and major life transitions. I work with preteens to older adults using a flexible, integrative approach that weaves together evidence-based practices with each client’s individual needs and preferences.
I earned my master’s in social work from the University of Tennessee. I use tools like acceptance and commitment therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, and mindfulness-based interventions, but above all my priority is to show up as just another human in the room, navigating this hard, messy, beautiful life alongside my clients.
In our work together, I will sit with you in your pain, your confusion, your anger, or whatever you’re bringing into the space, and help you be with it, make sense of it, and ultimately, transform it. Therapy can be hard. Life is hard. And yet here you are, because you know there’s something better waiting for you. Let’s find out what it is.

"As a therapist who has participated in therapy myself, I know how important it is to find a provider you connect with and feel truly seen by. I specialize in seeing the person in the room as a fully unique human being and in working with them to untangle the challenges they’re facing so they can grow into their fullest potential."

Why did you decide to become a counselor or psychiatric provider?
I really love people! I love getting to know people in the deeply special way that therapy creates space for, and I find it incredibly rewarding to get the chance to walk beside them as they grow and navigate the challenges in their lives with such courage and determination.
What's one thing you wish all clients knew about therapy, mental health, or the healing process?
It truly is a process — not a destination. And rather than seeing that as a bummer (no finish line?! What??), we can see it as an exciting journey where we’re always learning and growing. There is always more to discover about ourselves and our place in the world, and when we embrace that, it can be incredibly freeing, life-giving, and rewarding.
What can clients expect in their first session with you and in the early stages of therapy?
LOTS of questions! LOL, but for real. We’ll spend our initial sessions getting to know one another — I’ll ask you questions about your life history and presenting concerns, and together we’ll work to identify a plan to get you where you want to go. I also encourage you to come with your own questions — whether you’re new to therapy or a veteran, ask me whatever feels important to you. Therapy can sometimes feel intimidating but never forget that I work for YOU!
What personal experiences or values inform your practice as a therapist/provider?
I deeply value connection, authenticity, and individuality. In my role as a therapist, this means that I aim to show up as authentically as possible, and I strive to create a space where clients feel safe to do the same. It means that, as much as a person can, I try really hard to understand what life is like from your experience. And it means that more than some invented diagnostic criteria, I aim to see the full human in front of me. Diagnoses can be helpful, but they can also have the effect of pigeonholing people into boxes they don’t belong in, and I’m not a fan of boxes.
How do you tailor therapy to meet each client’s unique needs?
Therapy with me is very collaborative. Nothing is done without your input and buy-in — from goal setting to treatment approaches, I’ll ask for your input at every step of the way, and check in on a regular basis to make sure everything feels supportive. No one approach works for everyone, and I enjoy helping clients tune in to their inner wisdom to determine what approach (or combination of approaches) resonates and is most effective for them. Sometimes this takes a little trial and error, but there’s something out there for everyone.
