As a therapist who has participated in therapy myself, I know how important it is to find a provider you connect with and feel truly seen by. I specialize in seeing the person in the room as a fully unique human being and in working with them to untangle the challenges they’re facing so they can grow into their fullest potential.
As a licensed master social worker (LMSW) with 4 years of experience, I've worked in a variety of settings where I’ve helped people navigate a range of issues including trauma, anxiety, relational conflict, and depression. From an intensive outpatient program to a major medical hospital, I’ve sat with people on some of the worst days of their lives, accompanying them through immense grief and loss, chronic stress, vicarious trauma, and major life transitions. I work with preteens to older adults using a flexible, integrative approach that weaves together evidence-based practices with each client’s individual needs and preferences.
I earned my master’s in social work from the University of Tennessee. I use tools like acceptance and commitment therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, and mindfulness-based interventions, but above all my priority is to show up as just another human in the room, navigating this hard, messy, beautiful life alongside my clients.
In our work together, I will sit with you in your pain, your confusion, your anger, or whatever you’re bringing into the space, and help you be with it, make sense of it, and ultimately, transform it. Therapy can be hard. Life is hard. And yet here you are, because you know there’s something better waiting for you. Let’s find out what it is.

Talk therapy serves as a platform for both the client and therapist to gain a better understanding of the client's struggles.
Within cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), techniques like reframing and challenging negative thought distortions are employed, while in dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), mindfulness is integrated to help clients regulate emotions effectively and communicate without triggering themselves or others.
Progress is evident when clients can manage their emotions adeptly.
Engaging in activities such as journaling, self-care practices, exercise, socializing, and participating in pleasurable activities can complement therapy.
Before their counseling session, clients should reflect on their struggles and the support they seek.

Everyone struggles. We struggle with feelings of loneliness, to master the perfect work-life balance, to open up about our feelings. Sometimes, though, our struggle can turn into something bigger, darker, more oppressive. This is a different kind of struggle. This is depression.
Depression can make physically healthy people feel weak. It can make simple tasks feel impossible. It can cause you to miss work, school, or put major responsibilities on the back burner. It can cause you to question everything you know about life—as you deal with an intense sadness, loss of energy, and feelings of guilt or worthlessness.
The good news is depression is treatable, and there is help available. If you are struggling with depression or depressive symptoms, consider working with a depression counselor at Thriveworks Mt. Pleasant Counseling. The therapists at Thriveworks are experts in mental health. We have the skills and the tools to help you manage your depression and live a happy life again.
If you’re struggling with feelings of sadness or emptiness, it’s natural to wonder, “Am I depressed?” There are many forms of depression: major depression, minor depression, bipolar disorder, postpartum depression, seasonal affective disorder, and others. Symptoms of depression can include:
If any of the symptoms above resonate with you, call us at Thriveworks Mt. Pleasant Counseling. Our phone number is 843-606-6223. A depression counselor will talk you through your symptoms and help you to better manage them so you can get back to your normal self again.
Your treatment will depend on your depressive symptoms and your goals for therapy. Your counselor will customize your therapy sessions to best help you. As a general guide, you can expect to discuss problematic thoughts, feelings, and behaviors that contribute to your depression and that play a major role in your life. You can also expect to learn effective tools for defeating these negative thoughts and adopting healthier behaviors that improve your mindset and your well being.
Your therapist will also work with you on self-care, which is just as important as the work you complete in your therapy sessions. Self-care includes activities that you enjoy and that benefit your mental health. It might be exercise, yoga, a creative pursuit, meditation or even just spending time with friends or family members. The key is to find activities that you care about and enjoy. Your counselor can help you find a routine of self-care that works best for you.
Our counselors are equipped with the knowledge, experience, and tools to help you through this difficult time. And they are eager to make a difference in your life. If you’re ready to get started, so are we. Oftentimes, new clients can meet with their provider within the same week as scheduling. Our therapists have flexible schedules so you can also see us on evenings and weekends. In addition, we accept most major insurance plans.
