What is your go-to approach for individual therapy?

My approach for helping people in individual therapy is to utilize active listening and reflection to make sure I truly understand the areas of concern and the client feels heard. I prefer to use a client-centered approach with an emphasis on strengths to build on already-established confidence and to build a strong rapport with clients to increase buy-in.

My go-to approaches for helping people in individual therapy are cognitive behavioral therapy and self-actualization. I enjoy providing space for clients to heal and grow into their most authentic selves by taking control of their thoughts, feelings, and actions.

What tools do you teach in individual therapy?

I teach the following skills: self-soothing (DBT), distress tolerance skills (DBT), interpersonal effectiveness (DBT), mindfulness, and cognitive restructuring (CBT).

I teach the following tools in individual therapy: cognitive reframing tools, coping skills, positive self-affirmations, how to build and maintain healthy habit routines, and how to reduce people-pleasing tendencies by improving conflict resolution and communication skills.

How do you know when a client is making meaningful progress in individual therapy?

I know a client is making meaningful progress when they come to a session and are able to express more positive reflections than negative ones.

I recognize when clients make meaningful progress when they become self-aware of how their thoughts and feelings influence their actions and are able to utilize tools independently outside of sessions.

What can clients do in their personal time to supplement individual therapy?

Clients can supplement their time in individual therapy by journaling, engaging in purposeful activities (movement, self-care, learning), and practicing skills discussed in sessions.

In preparing for a first individual therapy session, it can be helpful to have an agenda of various concerns or areas you'd like to process or problem-solve.

How long does individual therapy last?

The duration of your individual therapy sessions will vary. The decision on the number and frequency of sessions is typically collaboratively determined by the client and therapist.

How much does individual therapy cost?

At Thriveworks, we accept most major insurance plans, allowing many clients to pay as little as $0–$50 per session with their co-pay. We also offer self-pay options for those out-of-network or without insurance. Self-pay rates for talk therapy range from $160 to $240 for intake sessions and $135 to $195 for follow-ups, depending on your state. For psychiatry services, self-pay intake sessions are $255–$375, with follow-ups ranging from $175–$300, also varying by state. First met frank in the mid 80's as he came to Phoenix Arizona as a certified surgical technologist & worked with him there in a level 1 trauma center. It wasn't much after his stay in Phoenix he returned to Philadelphia where he then became Philadelphia fire fighter, and his effort of doing that excelled to peaking position as Captain for the PFD. As a friend of Frank through all his dedication and motivation to higher education , that his commitment & dedication hadn't already been in progress . But as a friend to see what he has done and become to his educate himself to helping people in the community is second to none. But more than anything he's a great person and to have him as my friend all these years seen what he's done to keep helping people in the private sector, bravo frank !
