How do you know when a client is making meaningful progress in family therapy?

Billi Jo Speth
Billi Jo Speth

Counselor (Registered Mental Health Intern)

Meaningful progress in family therapy is evident when a client has reduced their substance use or the time spent on addictive behaviors. This reduction signifies a significant step towards recovery and healthier family dynamics.

What should someone do to prepare for starting anxiety therapy?

Billi Jo Speth
Billi Jo Speth

Counselor (Registered Mental Health Intern)

To prepare for your first anxiety therapy session, you can take a deep breath! Make a list of things you would like to talk about when you come to therapy. You can also take a moment to imagine what it would be like if your anxiety was lower than it is today.

What tools do you teach in depression counseling?

Ms. Gadishaw has helped me grow tremendously as a person. She has helped me learn skills to control my anxiety and depression. Even on days where I would normally hide away in bed, I have gained techniques and tools to keep me functional and going. I am much happier after meeting her. I am forever grateful.

The doctor fully understands me and I think he understands that I'm more emotionally intelligent than I am in. I like how our sessions are more of a me asking questions versus a doctor saying you know you may have this you may have that feels good to know a Doctor Who understands self-awareness I understand emotional intelligence and understands that it seems like I may not be the one who needs therapy, but just self realization a little bit I always appreciate the him understanding my philosophical values in my principal values and trying to show me those values can lead me into my potential

Experience effective therapy with a counselor or therapist in Jacksonville

Many of us don’t treat our mental health the way that we treat our physical health. If you are in the Jacksonville, FL area, consider scheduling an appointment with a therapist or psychiatric provider at Thriveworks Counseling & Psychiatry Jacksonville.

We have found the best of the best mental health providers in the area, and they are ready to walk alongside you on your mental health journey. If you’re interested in the benefits you could find in therapy, counseling, virtual counseling, or life coaching, reach out to Thriveworks today.

What Is the Difference Between Therapy, Counseling, and Psychiatry?

Therapy, provided by our counselors and therapists, addresses emotional and behavioral challenges using therapeutic techniques for mental well-being. Counseling, offered by counselors or therapists, focuses on specific issues and life adjustments, while psychiatry, led by our psychiatric nurse practitioners, involves diagnosing and treating mental health conditions with medication.

What Are the Types of Therapists You Can See?

While availability may vary, at Thriveworks Counseling & Psychiatry Jacksonville, we offer:

  • Licensed Marriage and Family Therapists (LMFTs): Focused on relationship and family-related issues.
  • Licensed Mental Health Counselors (LMHCs): Trained to provide mental health counseling.
  • Licensed Clinical Social Workers (LCSWs): Specialized in social work and counseling for individuals, families, and groups.

When you connect with a provider at Thriveworks, you’ll be sharing your experience with an industry-leading expert; someone with the experience and professional insight you need to move forward.
