Why did you decide to become a counselor or psychiatric provider?
I embarked on the counseling path fueled by a commitment to give back, drawing inspiration from the various interventions I received growing up that shaped my transformative journey. These cumulative experiences have sculpted me into the person I am today, and I am dedicated to guiding others on their healing journey, providing the same support and empowerment I received from dedicated professionals.
What types of clients do you work with best?
I have experience working with children, families, and adults. I am most effective in working with clients who approach the therapeutic experience with an open mind and a willingness to engage in self-reflection.
What type of clients are you most excited to work with?
I am most excited to work with children and their families.
What's one thing you wish all clients knew?
One thing I wish all clients knew is that the therapeutic journey is a collaborative effort, and their active participation, openness, and honesty greatly contribute to the effectiveness of the process.
Why did you choose to practice at Thriveworks?
I was drawn to Thriveworks' admirable business model and mission, and I aspired to be a part of their commitment to providing quality mental health support.
What inspires you?
I am inspired by the potential for positive change and witnessing resilience, empowerment, and transformation in individuals facing adversity.
What can clients expect in their first session with you?
The initial session serves as an introduction, allowing the client to ask any questions they may have about therapy, understand the therapeutic process, and articulate their goals for the experience. It is also an ideal time to discuss expectations and establish boundaries for our collaborative journey.
What do you want to accomplish with an individual in their first session?
In the initial session, I aim to build a positive therapeutic relationship, foster a safe and trusting environment, and grasp an understanding of the client's background, concerns, and goals. I seek to promote open communication, enabling clients to express their needs, expectations, and any questions about the therapeutic process. Additionally, we will discuss expectations and boundaries to ensure mutual understanding and alignment for the therapeutic journey.
What should clients know about you before scheduling a first session?
Clients should know that I am committed to creating a supportive and non-judgmental space for their unique journey. My approach is collaborative, focusing on their needs and goals. I value open communication and believe in the power of the therapeutic relationship. Before scheduling a first session, clients should feel assured that I am dedicated to understanding their experiences, fostering a positive therapeutic alliance, and working together to navigate challenges and promote personal growth.
What do you do for fun/on your time off?
I enjoy spending time with my family and friends. I love to travel, I love going to new restaurants and trying new dishes.
What's one thing about you that defines you (non-professional)?
My love for life, I love to laugh and enjoy sharing meaningful moments with those that I care about.
Can you tell us about a success you had with a client?
I had a former client who was in elementary experiencing severe anxiety and anger outbursts. It took a long time to establish a positive therapeutic relationship. The client had experienced a lot of trauma and struggled to trust those around them. After a few sessions and some team collaboration utilizing mindfulness practices, cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) techniques, and ongoing support, I started to see a decrease in anger outbursts at school and an overall improvement in the client's anxiety from severe to mild.
