Get to know Angelita

Why did you decide to become a counselor or psychiatric provider?

I grew up in one of the worst places in America to live - Camden, New Jersey, and I was able to see firsthand, the horrors and dysfunction that people experience, and struggle to overcome. It has always been a genuine trait of mine to help and to heal others.

What types of clients do you work with best?

I work with adults primarily, and anyone who needs to be reminded that 'you matter.' This may include men, women, young adults, and seniors.

What type of clients are you most excited to work with?

I am very excited to work with clients who feel unseen, unheard, lost, and in need of support. My passion involves relationship issues and clients who need to navigate in society and build healthier relationships.

What's one thing you wish all clients knew?

I am very down-to-Earth, and we can discuss just about anything without there being any concerns for judgement.

Why did you choose to practice at Thriveworks?

Thriveworks provides modern solutions for the clients' counseling needs, to include remote and in-person counseling sessions.

What inspires you?

The beauty of life's roller coaster and realizing that the bigger blessings and wisdoms in life comes from our most difficult moments. The difficulties equate to growth, and peace is being able to understand that even the bad can lead to good.

What can clients expect in their first session with you?

Clients can learn to become very comfortable with me as their counselor in the first session, as this will be the start of an empathic and helping relationship.

What do you want to accomplish with an individual in their first session?

During the first session, I'd like to understand the person for who they are, allow them to feel seen and heard, and learn what they believe they are struggling with.

What should clients know about you before scheduling a first session?

I have a cat, who will sometimes attempt to join in on the session, but only in a positive, therapeutic, and relaxing manner.

What do you do for fun/on your time off?

During my time off, I enjoy painting, playing the piano, producing music and songwriting.

What's one thing about you that defines you (non-professional)?

I am spiritual, open to all, and I enjoy art very much.
