Arin recognizes that each person’s journey and barriers are different and she uses a person-centered, trauma informed approach to facilitate clients’ personal growth. She meets people where they are and helps them create attainable goals to recognize success and build self-worth.

Arin is truly invested in the happiness and success of each client and will work alongside individuals who are equally invested in confronting their personal barriers to success and happiness. Emily Mertz, LPC

Philosophy of Care

My name is Emily Mertz-Tomlinson, LPC, ATR-BC. I am a 2008 graduate of Drexel University. I have over 13 years of experience working in the field of mental health and human services, as both a clinical Counselor and Creative Arts Therapist. I specialize in treating trauma, providing art therapy services to individuals who have experienced significant distress, loss, or those with histories of exposure to violence and abuse. For the past 4 years I have worked with victims of domestic violence and their children. However, I also have varied experiences in multiple settings; working with those who suffer from Chronic mental health conditions, families, children in foster care, teens, and adult perpetrators of crimes.

My passion lies in helping individuals to find their inner voice through either verbal or non-verbal modalities. In my practice, I use a combination of psychotherapeutic approaches and tools, to help with building awareness, confidence, and healthy coping. I am strengths based, person- centered in my philosophy, and creative in my approach to therapy; often using art-making, play, story telling and metaphors to help individuals of all ages achieve personal happiness and fulfillment.

Gregory Salmon, PMHNP

Philosophy of Care

My philosophy of care as a psych nurse practitioners direct me toward diagnose and treating mental illness through psychotherapy, psychopharmacology, case management, and clinical supervision. I as a provider function independently to meet patient care needs within my scope of practice. Psychiatric Nursing to me is all about the relationship you establish with your patients, understanding them from their perspective and asking them what they think is going on with their health or what has been changing in their body and mind. I like to ask, how do you feel? What do you think? Asking these questions gives me a door to perceive patients in a holistic manner. It helps me as a psychiatric NP understand if patient’s symptoms are just physical or are psychological. Someone may be experiencing a lot of life stressor and not eating right, or not drinking a lot of water. As a result they start experiencing a lot of headache. Instead of thinking it is a migraine and heavily medicating the patient the best treatment at times is simply to encourage the patient to think positively and demonstrate relaxation techniques and they will do better in every aspect of life including health.

Jill Lamar, LPC

Philosophy of Care

Jill is a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Pennsylvania. She completed a Bachelor of Arts in Economics at Arizona State University, and received a Master of Arts in Counseling from Dallas Theological Seminary. Jill draws on the wisdom of her life experience, a drive to pursue the truth in each client’s story, and a passionate desire to see the broken restored in working with her clients. She has a God-given ability to listen, hear, and interpret what her clients tell her (both verbally and nonverbally), and is both process- and goal-driven, unafraid to be direct in showing her clients the way forward. It hurts her heart to see her clients deceived, believing lies about themselves (or lies they’ve been told about themselves); reluctant to consider a change for fear of doing something wrong.

She enjoys helping her clients explore new coping skills, like erecting appropriate boundaries in their relationships, or learning how to better manage their anxiety or anger. She takes great pleasure in seeing clients discover new things about and strengths in themselves. She has worked with the blind, the homeless and at-risk populations for more than a dozen years, and is adept at showing clients how to carefully work through the perceived wreckage of their lives to craft a more hopeful narrative that provides them with a renewed sense of purpose and confidence.

Jill’s specialties include faith-based counseling, helping clients with addictions and other compulsive behaviors, dual-diagnosis, anxiety and depression, grief, couples therapy, and working with adolescents adjusting to the challenges of life and the changes they bring, as well as academic underperformance. It should be noted that although she takes therapy quite seriously, Jill’s sense of humor is legendary, and often creates an inimitable, meaningful and warm connection between her and her clients.

Myriam Rosefort, LCSW

Hello and welcome. Thank you for stopping by.

My name is Myriam Rosefort and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. I earned my Master’s degree at Stony Brook University in New York. I have provided services in both New York and Pennsylvania.

Providing services in both the state of New York and Pennsylvania; I’ve retained 11 years of service assisting children and their families. In my work experience of 20 years in the human service field; I have gained my experience in a variety of settings which includes outpatient mental health facilities, in homes, schools, residential programs, and within the community.

My counseling style is to take on a holistic and eclectic approach. I’m a firm believer that it is important to meet clients where they are at and to be culturally sensitive. I take great pride in assuring my clients that this is a safe place where they can vent, express themselves, feel validated, and not be judged. I believe in taking on a positive approach and focusing on the client’s strength to give them a since of empowerment and encouragement. My therapeutic style is flexible and it’s not a one size fits all. I approach each family, couple, or individual with warmth, compassion, respect, and openness while working together to collaboratively to help with meeting target goals.

I have worked with individuals, families, children, and adults coping with a variety of issues including ADHD (attention deficit hyperactivity disorder), autism, oppositional defiant disorder, depression, attachment disorders, personality disorders, parental conflicts, anxiety, trauma, abuse, struggle with adjustment, struggle with coping with caring for a special needs child, and a wide range of problems.

I have been trained and have worked in a range of modalities including client centered therapy, cognitive behavior therapy, gestalt therapy, narrative therapy, solution focused, rational emotive therapy, psychoanalytic therapy, family marital therapy, family systems, and trauma therapy.

All too often people are afraid to face their pain because they are often told not to feel angry or sad. Until we learn to feel, to acknowledge, to cope and start the healing of our unresolved pain and struggles, we remain stagnant in discovering the best versions of ourselves.  There is strength in making the choice to seek out help, to start the healing process, and you deserve it. I am open and ready to help.

In this day and age it is so hard to be seen and heard, to know if we are “normal” and “fit in with society.”  If you are having issues navigating troubled thoughts, unmotivated to reach your goals, concerns with substance abuse, or relationship/ marriage problems, I would love the opportunity to work with you.  I meet clients where they are and identify what concerns have brought you to therapy. We come up with a plan together to help you reach your goals in therapy. I have experience working with individual clients, couples, adolescents and young children. I use multiple interventions and identify those specifically to meet each clients needs.

A little about myself, my education concentrated on counseling and I earned a Masters in Social work and Education in Human Sexuality.  Where I focused on identified sexual functioning issues, and working with relationship problems with couples primarily concentrating on sexual concerns. In addition my education focused on working with the LGBTQIA populations.   I worked extensively with clients who have experienced trauma, PTSD, parenting and issues with children. I have experience running women’s groups, sex education, early recovery, and couples groups. My theoretical orientation is psycho dynamic, ego psych, family systems therapy.  I use interventions such as CBT, DBT, motivational interviewing, trauma informed and strength based. I currently hold my LCSW in the state of PA and have been working and living with my family in the Center City area since 2015.
