Why did you decide to become a counselor?
The short of it is to help people. We all have complex identities, and ways of thinking, coping with our difficulties, and I love being a part of folks journey to start and see things in different ways.
What types of clients do you work with best?
Folks who are motivated, and unafraid to be challenged.
What type of clients are you most excited to work with?
My main speciality is gender and sexuality, which can often be taboo to talk about in many settings. I am often very exited to process life transitions and journeys of personal growth in these domains.
What’s one thing you wish all clients knew?
You are not alone in how you are feeling.
Why did you choose to practice at Thriveworks?
This is a supportive environment where we are given the freedom and trust to practice without judgement.
What can clients expect in their first session with you?
In our first session, I like to take the opportunity to have a light conversation where we get to know one another. I will give a sense of who I am, and how I practice, and of course come to an understanding of what made a person make the call to seek help, and how I can support them in overcoming their difficulties.
What do you do for fun/on your time off?
I spend a lot of time with my corgi (Sigmund), and tuxedo cat (Darwin), relaxing with a seemingly endless pile of books, play video games, train for races (I'm a runner), and socializing with friends. I would love to get back to traveling more in the near future!
