Providers listened to my concerns and personal experiences before making a final decision about treatment. They made me feel like they were taking my opinions seriously and into account regarding my treatment. Providers also allow me to express my comfort level with a treatment and are willing to make adjustments accordingly, such as increasing medication more incrementally or at a slower pace. This has been particularly helpful for me since I respond to medications a lot more with stronger side effects than most people. Having some control over the dose and pace has been very helpful for my management of changes I experience from the medication. Providers are not judgmental, gently discourage problems, and really help identify the root of issues, which allows us to work on the actual problem to promote real healing instead of just secondary symptom management.
