About Dawn
Dawn Hartman is a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner with over 20 years of nursing experience including treating patients in crisis. She specializes in treating older adolescents, adults, and seniors who have a range of symptoms including anxiety, depression, panic, obsessive-compulsive disorder, and PTSD along with other mood and personality disorders.
Dawn received her Master of Science in Nursing from Walden University. She has experience in crisis intervention and case management of individuals seeking mental health treatment. Dawn utilizes a holistic approach combined with medication management and draws on methods from mindfulness, cognitive behavioral therapy, and motivational interviewing.

Why did you decide to become a counselor or psychiatric provider?
I became a PMHNP due to my interest in new advances in treating mental health conditions and my desire to educate the clients that I work with so they can achieve their goals.
What types of clients do you work with best?
Anxiety, depression, bipolar, ADHD and OCD.
What's one thing you wish all clients knew?
That they are not alone, and that mental health treatment needs to be individualized to achieve the best possible outcome.
Why did you choose to practice at Thriveworks?
I feel it is important to have options available for people to have access to telehealth services to manage their mental health.
What inspires you?
Being part of helping people improve and begin to enjoy their quality of life again.
What can clients expect in their first session with you?
I will do my best to alleviate any anxiety they may have and address any concerns regarding treatment.
What do you want to accomplish with an individual in their first session?
Begin to establish a therapeutic relationship and a patient centered treatment plan.
What should clients know about you before scheduling a first session?
I am patient and strive to make people feel comfortable during the initial evaluation
What do you do for fun/on your time off?
I like to travel and spend time with my family and dogs.

I enjoy interacting with people.
Does Dawn prescribe medications effective for the treatment of ADHD?
Yes - when clinically appropriate, Dawn may prescribe both non-stimulant (all ages) and stimulant (adults only) medication for the treatment of ADHD.
