About
I choose to work with highly motivated people from a strengths-based and client-centered approach to support them in better functioning, better mental health, and wellness.
I am Wendy C. Krull, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) with 20 years of experience in the field of social work. I have had the privilege of supporting individuals facing challenges such as depression, anxiety, grief and loss, domestic and sexual violence, and co-occurring medical and mental health issues. I earned my Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Psychology with a minor in Sociology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and my Master of Social Work (MSW) from Virginia Commonwealth University.
My approach is warm and collaborative, focusing on identifying each individual’s strengths and preferences. I work with individuals and groups to support their goals and treatment choices, using cognitive-behavioral and solution-focused interventions.
I am sensitive to multicultural issues and strive to understand each person’s unique viewpoint. Together, we focus on what may not be working and find ways to enhance overall wellness. I believe everyone has the capacity to grow in meaningful and life-affirming ways and create deeper connections with themselves and others.

Grief can be caused by many experiences and events, so if you feel that you are having trouble moving on from a certain event or find that it is still impacting your life and functioning, grief and loss counseling can help you process it more effectively so that you can move on and once again find fulfillment and satisfaction in your life.
There are many counseling theories for treating grief, one of the most frequently used being the dual process model of grief which helps people acknowledge who or what they’ve lost through rumination while also adjusting to the new roles and identities that this loss has now placed on them. There are also many commonly used therapy approaches used in grief and loss counseling, including Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), Acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), and traumatic grief therapy.
Grief & loss counseling at Thriveworks is conducted both in person and online by video. We encourage you to choose the option that works best for you.
