Amber Roy, LICSW

Philosophy of Care

Amber Roy, MSW, LICSW is a Northern California native who came to the east coast for social work graduate school in 2003. She has years of experience working with adolescents, adults, couples and families with a variety of therapeutic needs including chronic illness/oncology, grief and bereavement, trauma, anxiety, depression, adoption issues, self-harm, and substance abuse to name a few.

Amber’s approach is supportive, collaborative, and direct. Her practice focuses on elements of cognitive behavioral therapy with a solution-focused / strengths-based mindset to help clients reach their goals and tap into what’s already working. It may be important to focus on what happened in the past but maybe the most important issues are the ones you’re facing today, in this moment, so that will be the focus. Her flexible approach helps clients feel heard, valued and supported.

While not routine in her practice for every client, Amber has an area of interest and experience utilizing elements found in nature such as flowers and plants as a therapeutic medium and would like to introduce more of this work in her practice with both individuals and groups. Please let her know if this is something that would be of interest as it can be incorporated at any phase of treatment.
