Joseph Okrah is a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner with 7 years of experience in the mental health field. He specializes in treating individuals ages 14 and up who are dealing with PTSD, major depression disorder, general anxiety disorder, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, and substance use. Joseph’s goal is to provide culturally appropriate care for all patients and to reduce the stigma surrounding mental illness.
Joseph has a Doctorate in Nurse Practice from Walden University. His practice focuses on looking at the client as a whole, taking into consideration their educational, medical, spiritual, interpersonal, and basic needs. Joseph is experienced in crisis management and medication management.

Why did you decide to become a counselor or psychiatric provider?
To educate people about mental illness and remove the stigma around mental illness by breaking barriers and providing environment that is safe and comfortable for clients.

That mental illness is as important as medical illness and should be given the same attention as given to medical illness.

What inspires you?
To prescribe medications and offer therapy services and during follow up, clients see major improvement in their cognitive function and general well being is what inspires me.

My style is solution oriented, participatory and open minded so clients can expect to get involved in my first session.

For them to get greater insight about their prognosis and diagnosis and understand medications, therapeutic inventions and other education provided.
